FWMR - September Newsletter

Be sure to watch the ride section for upcoming rides. A break from the extreme summer heat is finally upon us and we're sure to be having more rides as more comfortable riding weather is just on the horizon!

We are continuing to give away a half off trackday each month to a Ride Smart event. Be sure to watch the Ride Smart section of the forums for your chance to enter and win. If you have never done a trackday before, or don't have leathers for a trackday be sure let us know and we can work something out.

Bike Nights are the second and fourth Thursday of the month at Fox & Hound. The next bike night will be Sept. 9th.

  Month in Review

Aug. was a very slow for rides, in part due to several of the ride leaders enjoying the RideSmart event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Which by the way, was amazing! There are videos posted here, Barber-2010 Videos and Sckego has uploaded several to YouTube and can be found on the forums, Barber Motorsports videos. Sckego also put together a nice little trip photo story line that can also be found in the Barber Motorsports post, Trip Photos, part 1, Trip Photos, Part 2, and Trip Photos, Part 3. Those of you that wanted to go but couldn't, sorry you missed out, but good news, RideSmart plans to go again next year so keep your eye out for that.

DarcShadow did lead a short after work ride that had a pretty good turn out. The first was an after work ride that had a pretty good turnout. Darc managed to lead a ride and not hit any gravel roads although he did make an unplanned U-turn. His second ride for the month was the last day of the month...

The club is continuing to evaluate possible new locations for Bike Nights. We revisited Pour House, this time on an official bike night. We had a pretty good turn out and most everyone was pleased with the venue.

We also welcomed our newest member into the club, 03ninjaman completed his meatball eval period and was voted into the group. Welcome 03ninjaman, we are happy to have you join us!

Sauter0966, who had an incident at the drag strip last month had surgery on his leg and is doing much better. He is on the road to recovery and is looking forward to getting healed up so he can ride again and finish his final meatball ride and become a club member!"

The club is currently looking into what it will take to participate in the Adopt-A-Highway program, which will allow us to give something back to the great state of Texas.

El Diabro is the winner of the half off trackday from Ride Smart. Be sure to sign up for you chance to win half off then get registered for your favorite of the three tracks, all are welcome and any one can win.

  Upcoming Events

There are no official club events planned for Sept. but keep an eye on the forums or check the News section of the home page (www.fwmr.net) for details of any events that pop up.

There is a small group planning a trip to Arkansas in Sept. and is being organized by Blizzard. Give her a buzz if you're interested in joining the group. We would ask that you have some experience riding with the club prior to doing such a long ride with the group.
