BMW building bigger boxer

BMW is apparently building a flat twin engine with a displacement of nearly 1800 cc. The concept is designated the R18. It seems as though, for now it is being used in cruiser concept bikes made by custom builders. An article suggests BMW may have a cruiser up their sleeves. https://www.cycleworld.c...

And here I thought your next post would be an R1250GSA.

Let me know if you want help mounting the tire.

Re: Redneck Ramble April 27-28, 2019

Ran into Stoney, not literally. In spite of a few folks telling me not to, I ran the single track on the VStrom. Made it through, but it wasn't pretty. Biggest problem with the Strom, as usual, was ground clearance, which really can't be fixed.

Checking out the ramble site. They have a single track area a couple miles away and are gearing up for the field meet. One of the obstacles is deep sand. I think I heard them say it was imported from Utah.

Nice Rick. So the stabilization in the video was just the native GoPro stuff or did you post process?

Re: Big Bend Ranch "State Park"

A lot to be desired in terms of what? Too technical for the GS? Big rocks? Sand? Too easy? Not maintained?

Re: Yamaha and BMW Demos upcoming

Also rode the 2020 S1000RR. Pretty cool, but you really don't get a good feel for it what with the ride leaders. The dash is pretty nice, similar to the new GS dash. The big surprise for me today was the S1000XR. Though it doesn't have the new dash yet. Tons of power but obviously skewed more to the...

Re: Yamaha and BMW Demos upcoming

It was fine. The R1250GSA was alright, but not great. Maybe my expectations were too high. The quick shifter was actually pretty bad. Very clunky going up unless you were in a fairly narrow throttle window. Down in the lower gears was not much better. I don't know if there was something off about th...

What the Professionals say about COTA: Marquez "it’s so easy to make mistakes. Most difficult is to be constant all the laps. It’s really bumpy; sometimes you have to change your lines every lap." Rossi "It is one of the most particular tracks of the season, maybe the most difficult, ...

Rick, Perhaps you should think about attending the 2019 Overland Expo (West) in May in Flagstaff. https://www.overlandexpo.com/west Looks like some fun stuff. 325 exhibitors, 175 specialized classes, lots of like minded people with ideas for trips and gear. Some of the classes look interesting... Ri...

I got a nice email from the COO. They were not able to secure enough riders to make this event. Huh. I wouldn't have even known it was available except purely by chance. I guess they should advertise better if they want to grow. How did you hear about it? He mentioned what he really needed was more...
