Makes you wonder how much he has invested in tires learning to ride like that.

Re: This makes me love my job

I once had an architecture professor who said he could never design a building over three stories for fear that the Contractor might ask him to come up on the roof during construction.

Re: Crazy Tail of the Dragon crash

Regarding use of back brake vs. front; I was always told the front brake is the most effective. But if you want to get the most out of it, you must shift the weight forward and get the front tire mashed into the pavement before you apply maximum force on the lever. Therefore, I always hit the back b...

The wife and I had lunch at Benito's after church today. They are all good places. And there's not one like them on every corner in town.

"Like the Fairmount neighborhood in Fort Worth..."

Exactly. And there are others that would make equally good choices.

Close to Rahr, Benito's, Cat City Grill, Lili's Bistro, Nonna Tata's, etc.

Re: First Home

My advice would be to not buy a new house in the suburbs where every house on the street is the same and not that different than those built a few years ago just a little further in. In this market, the value will not rise very fast, if at all. There was a time when this was not the case; when house...

That's so cool. I saw Endeavour at Carswell one time on it's way to Florida. Kind of amazing to stand there knowing where that thing has been.

Covered at track days? Your insurance covers you on the track? I think my policy excludes any riding done on a track. If I bin it, I think I'm on my own.

:icon_whs0be: But at the same time you have a claim on discrimination. If they are advertising the "discount for being a member of a riding club/organization" and they only have 1 authorized club. Then you have a claim. Now if Progressive is not advertising the discount but HOG is, then n...

You may be on to something. The only time it may get damaged is if it falls off the trailer.

Insurance

I just had a very interesting conversation with a representative from Progressive Insurance. I had heard recently that you could get an insurance discount if you belonged to a riding club. I have had insurance with Progressive since March of 2003 and been a member of a riding club since May or June ...

I grew up on Air Force bases in the U.S. and in Germany until I was 18 years old and have been going to air shows my entire life. I have been to the Alliance show several times. It's a good one. If you have never been, it is worth your time. No, I don't work for the airport or the airshow and they a...

Re: Sphere wheels on a motorcycle

The only time I have seen a front motorcycle wheel "jack knife" is when someone did a stoppie, stood the bike on its front wheel, and let the front end fold over. Otherwise, it doesn't happen.

I have to agree with Rhino. The ONLY time I EVER stripped the treads in my oil pan was the ONE TIME I used a torque-wrench. Luckly on my ST1300, the bolt screws into a plate on the bottom of the pan that can be replaced relatively cheaply.

Re: Wheelies!

I've done a mess of runs at the Kennedale racetrack. I believe that once the wheel starts coming up, (whether you recognize it or not) you will back out of the throttle ever so slightly in an attempt to manage the wheelie. This will hurt your runs. Keep the front wheel on the ground and pin the thro...

One of the greatest things I discovered when I got married was what I call the "magic hamper". I throw dirty clothes in the hamper, and they appear clean, ironed and back in the drawer in a matter of days. It's really cool. I should have gotten one of these years ago.
