Can-am Spider Cop

Post by DarcShadow » Tue May 08, 2018 12:43 pm

Just passed a cop on a Can-am Spider who had a car pulled over on I-20 near Bryant Irving. Wonder what the story is, the spider seems like an odd vehicle for the police.

Ok, that video pointed out all the things about the spider that make it better than a police motorcycle, but everything they pointed out is also standard in a CAR. So what are the advantages of a spider over a car. Only thing that comes to mind would be acceleration, and I'm not even sure on that. It does look kind of cool though.

The thing weighs over 1000 lbs dry, and that's the civilian model, don't know what this weighs wet. And it only has 115 HP. I kinda doubt it has blinding acceleration. While I do appreciate some of what they said, not being able to split traffic seems like a real down side if I'm giving up air conditioning and the protection of a cage and air bags 8 hours a day.
