:plus1:

my understanding is, panic brake usually results in the front end skidding then tucking.

I've skid my front once on the street doing a panic brake, the front end started to turn and if I would have held on it would have just laid down and slid.

There are several video's around youtube where the bike just instantly "lays down" while going in a straight line, its due to panic brake.

Keith code has a video snip of panic brake vs progressive, in the panic brake the front end skids and tucks, in the progressive brake the bike does an endo.

I'll see if I can find the clip somewhere on the interwebs
I have dental work to prove your point if you need something for show and tell.

Saw this over on MotoDFW. Crazy stuff. Pretty clear there were several mistakes being made by both parties involved. Namely neither of them should of been trying to pass the guy with the camera on that side so close to the tip in point for the turn.

Wow. Both videos are crazy. I agree that a hit from behind is my biggest fear riding. It's what happened in my only off so far. I haven't seen a local trackday, but riding with Nesba it was a real problem in the Beginner class if you were fast. They would always have 3-4 reaallly slow people in each session and for some crazy reason this group would stay wide of the line but then cross back over to the inside after the final turn. Some guys had complained about this, and then one day one of my buddies came out of the final on his 954 and had one of the slow ones cross right in front of him. He hit the sv650 so hard it bent the exhaust and the swing arm apart from each other. They then stopped that practice... and no longer exist as a trackday organization...

There was quite a bit of talk about that one. The guy on the white bike apparently broke his pelvis, among other things, and the woman on the red CBR broke her humerus and fingers, among other things.

Hope they both heal up well.

Do not want!!!! While I'm not even close to track experience yet I admit I'm nervous about other riders coming up behind me like that and who the heck knows what oops moment may happen. Riding alone. In a bubble. /e casts Divine Shield

Just to make it clear, in that video, the rear rider did not hit the front rider, came damn close but didn't make contact. Had she not panicked she could of slowed and swerved to avoid hitting him, might of ran off into the grass but should of been able to keep it up. Things happen fast though and it's easy to say what someone should of done after the fact.

The other way around. Red = she, white = he.

This was a matter of inexperience. There was plenty of time & space, but he panicked and yard-saled, and him tumbling in front of her caused her to panick as well: yard sale #2. Shit happens, but at least they're both going to make a full recovery.
