I know it's a ways out but the sooner we get things planned out the better things go.
How many are interested in going to the MotoGP in Indy this year?
I'd love to get a group buy together again but it was a rather large hassle so I'm wondering if we have enough people interested.
Also, if you want to go, would you be interested in expanding the trip to a week long and hitting the Tail of the Dragon after the race?
I figure haul the bikes up Thursday. Do the race weekend thing. Then Monday ride down to the Dragon, only about 4 to 5 hours from Indy. Ride around for a couple of days then haul the bikes home Wednesday or Thursday.
I expect we may end up with 2 groups, one that just goes up for the race and one that stays to ride the Dragon.

Idea - bring in other FortWorth / Dallas groups we know about such as Hawk's group and that other one that's really close - txsbr.com ?
Coordnate a couple of rides with em thruout the summer.
Always more fun with a group you know than a bunch of strangers.
Good planning starts early.
Also, there is now some data as to the costs per person. 4 people per car, trailer space, gasoline per car/person, room, food. A good estimate for those that must budget well in advance.
Don't know where I'll be that far in advance but yes, I wanna go.

Obviouslly adding the Dragon into the mix would up the gas expence a bit but should be too much. Mike, you remember about what every one paid last year for gas?

We went to Indy at the worst time for gas prices. My gas guzzler used about $800 in gas. That could carry 4 people and 5 bikes. Today gas cost would less than half the cost of last year.

But your trailer will hold 4 less bikes with the GRex on it. I'm planning on going, but with the 'vacations' that Amy has been stacking up, I may lose my job over it all before it's all said and done. I'm actually going to be taking close to 6 weeks of trips this year.

I'm not planning on making it this year. Lack of funds plus that drive was a PITA.

I would be interested in going to the motoGP this again. I may or may not be able to make it to the dragon, I would have to make that part of the decision later.

TRex does not fit on the trailer - it is too wide!

*Raises hand*
I'll volunteer! For a bit, I mean... I don't think 20 hours in that puppy could be considered fun, no matter how nice it is to drive!
Oh, and I'm in for MotoGP fosho, and probably Deal's Gap as well.

depending on the date of moto gp I might be able to make it. At this point is a 50/50 chance.

Any one else? Or know some one else that might want to go? Currently I have a count of 12 that are pretty sure they're going and another 7 that want to go but don't know if they can make it yet.
Also, those of you that are members on other forums, post up there and see if any one is interested in joining the group buy. Even if they are not from around here. We can buy the tickets and mail them out.

I just got an email today from our Group Sales Representative at IMS. The "extras" for group tickets this year include
2 Free IMS Souvenirs ($20 value) 10% off coupon at the Hall of Fame Museum Gift Shop VIP Motorcycle Parking Track Lap on Monday Aug. 31st on your personal motorcycle
Group Sales Brochure
Aug. may seem like a long ways off but we really need to be making plans and getting things put into motion.
currently I have 13 that plan to go to the races and 7 that want to go but did not know if they could swing it.
I also have a list of 5 yeses, and 3 maybes for the dragon.
I'd like to get 20 yeses asap so that I can start collecting money and get the ticket order placed. If you're pretty sure you are going to go, but not 100%, and if you don't mind taking a small risk, go ahead and get a ticket. Last year we had about 5 tickets that weren't needed by the group and we were able to find buyers for all of them so no one lost money.

Hate to keep bringing this up but if we are going to do this we really need to get 20 people asap. Currently we have 13 that say they are going and 6 maybe's.
Does any one know of any one else out side of the club that might want to go. I've emailed TXSBR and Texas Sport Riders to see if they have any members that are thinking of going. Any one else we can reach out to?
The race is only 4 months away, we really need to get plans set soon.

Didn't see anything on that web page. The only thing google found was an april fools story that it was canceled because the indy track spent all the money on nazi hookers.

I am planning on going to the GP. I will ride up from Mex City. I plan on going to Barber Motorsports Museum on the way and was thinking of riding the dragon as well. I only have 2 weeks including 3 weekends for the trip. If anybody has any tips or suggestions I'd like to hear them.
