Jacket tailors?

Just curious if anyone knows a good tailor so I can get my SS jacket sleeve fixed? The seam on the right arm around the elbow is coming undone (I noticed it when we were on our trip to Big Bend). As far as I am concerned, I do not have a jacket at this moment until I get it fixed or buy a new one. I don't want this little issue to turn into a bigger issue if I wreck while wearing it.

Ok. Thanks. I will give her a call and see what she says. Is she the one that is hard to get a hold of or doesn't return calls?

Both, yeah. Probably have better luck being that it's not racing season.

It was cold. You felt the coldness!! Some clothing is better than none :)...depending on the situation.

Not in hot tubs. Then some clothing is not better than none.

:SideSplittingLaughter: It is ok. I understand. DD and I are just too damn hard to tell apart!!!
I was wondering if it was just mine or if others did that too. I didn't even have it for a year when I noticed the seam starting to come undone.

yeah mine happend about 4 months in. I was ok with it, but then the other side did it. With mine being a mesh jacket i just decided that it wasn't enough protection and ever since that day i've been wearing my leather one

I don't think I will be purchasing another SS jacket for this reason. I am afraid that another SS jacket would do the same which is unacceptable in my opinion.

Totally agree and that's why i didn't buy another SS myself!

As a side note, I tried to contact Shannon to fix some leathers last year, but both phone calls and e-mails were never returned. I finally took the leathers to Moto Liberty, who did an excellent job fixing them for $50.

Very nice! You could also stitch them up yourselves too. Pick up some Spiderwire from the fishing department, highest test you can find, and sew up your jacket yourself...

My concern about getting a jacket stitched up is how strong the seam will be.

It's not just a matter of closing the hole. If you close it with regular thread, the hole might as well still be there. The good gear uses Kevlar and other stuff to have really strong abrasion-resistant thread, as well as sewing techniques that get the seams out of harm's way.

Have you ever messed with Spiderwire? It's basically like standard thread, except it'll hold 50+ pounds. And it has significant abrasion-resistance, considering it's designed to be rubbed through eyelets, water, sunlight, etc. Awesome stuff. I've used it for repairing pants along seams, sewing on buttons, etc. Use it. Enjoy it. Like it.

+1 on spiderwire. You want a knot to hold and not break...spiderwire, you want a cut on your finger because a big fish took off with your line...spiderwire, you want to use your pocketknife because you got a bad birdsnest in your reel and can't get it out...spiderwire, you want to be pissed off because you bought expensive line and you still can't catch a fish...spiderwire. spiderwire

Heh, I've had more than enough hooks and lures snagged, to where I've pulled them in only to find the barb off the lure ripped off before the damned line broke. Awesome stuff.

Can't say I have ever heard of spiderwire until now and I will go google it:D

I completely agree with you Rhino...why I am looking at getting another jacket instead of fixing the seam and my leathers work just fine for now.

You should get some perforated leathers for the summer time. It's all just a matter of getting used to them. I wore mine for all-day rides when it was 110F out.
