Can anyone recommend an accurate and high quality tire gauge? All of mine are cheap pieces of crap that give inaccurate readings, and I am pretty sure that there are some that cost more and still suck.

I have the same one, but no hose on it. Bought it at sears. I'd say its a middle of the road as far as quality

As long as you use the same one it really doesn't matter if it's off by 10psi so long as it's always off. We also did a comparison one day at the track with several cheap and expensive gauges, they all read the same +/- 1 psi.

I use a Stockton gauge I got from cycle gear a while back. And it's been good. Use it on the cars and bike

no, you just adjust till it fells right. The actual number is just a reference and means nothing. So long as you always use the same gauge you just adjust the pressure in reference to that, you just can't ask anyone what pessure you should run.

On a REAL note...Im using one of the liquid filled gauges I got from the tire truck at ridesmart events. I think its the Dunslop guy if I recall correctly. He can also check any gauges for accuracy on site.

I have multiple units, but the one that I like best is the same one that Rhino posted. I've checked it against a calibrated gauge, and it is (only) off by 2 PSI, which really isn't too bad for a cheapo.

The liquid-filled gauges are pretty cool too, although I'm not convinced that the few cc's of glycerin are worth the difference in cost, compared to an air-filled gauge of similar quality. But, I still think they're cool.

Expensive or cheap, rough handling will throw off any of them.

I've never understood the purpose of liquid filled gauges for use in 1 atmosphere.

Some of the most accurate scuba gauges that are used for blending are not liquid filled, and yet some are.

The submersible gauges HAVE to be liquid filled, otherwise the pressure flexes the gauge and makes the needle stick (that sucks, trust me).

Again, for tire pressure all you need is a consistent gauge, accuracy doesn't actually matter so long as you're not comparing pressures with other gauges.

For example, I have a gauge I use all the time. I know that for track pressures I want around 35psi. I have no idea what the true pressure in the tire is, I just know that with my gauge, 35 is a good starting point for the day.

While I appreciate your confidence in my ability to feel out my tire pressures, I believe that it might be misplaced.

I kind of wing it, I notice that a few psi doesn't make much of a difference for me, if they are hot and sticky and I'm not sliding too much then I'm good. If they are not heating up I drop a couple psi.
