Re: Recent (sorta) rides..
Wow, this might be the first post on here in 2024 ???...and it's almost February! Well anyway just to make some use of this months forum hosting fee, ....I rode out to Big Bend area for the annual Fred Boothe Memorial Big Bend Freeze Out ride which has been going on since at least '86. (Although whe...

Recent (sorta) rides..
From another thread about a Colorado ride... Not sure if anyone is even reading this anymore, but.... Yes, I read occasionally but when there isn't much new going on I forget to check in. So rather than be part of the problem I'll just post some stuff (even if it isn't very interesting to most of yo...

Re: Good road for MC?
My brother in law, Joe and I climbed up that road on DR650s ̶a̶ ̶f̶e̶w̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶a̶g̶o̶ in 2013 as the last part of the White Rock Canyon rim loop. Unless you just want the feather in your cap, I'd skip the whole loop and just ride the road in the photo (Shafer trail) down to Musselman arch and ...

Re: Anyone here do the Talimena Byway?
This reply is late so it is probably no longer relevant..I've been on that road several times.....other than a 55 mph speed limit (sometimes going down to 45) and an occasional obnoxious large group of V-twins parading down it at 10 under the limit...it is an enjoyable ride. It has a higher speed li...

Re: Grand staircase
That looks like it was a great trip! Beautiful photos as well! Looks like you got to the North Rim a few weeks before it closed for the season, best time to be there IMO. I thought about getting a car top tent and maybe putting it on top of a trailer. So how was it getting in and out of duri...

Salvaging something from this 2020 $#!+ year

Re: Most recent purchase thread!
How does the "hauler" portion work, special area or is it basicly like just a door to the inside where you can use the space for multipurpose I don't know about Demon D's, but a lot of them have a single or double bunk bed deal that raises up electrically to the ceiling and then toys go u...

I've considered a route up north east but so much meh between here and where it's pretty, what cave was that? Mammoth Cave Ky. A huge cave but not as cool as Carlsbad Caverns.(figuratively, literally it's cooler by 2 degrees Fahrenheit) The differences between the two are quite noticeable, so to so...

Summer Trip Report
Hi, remember me? Don't get your hopes up, this isn't going to be on par with some of the trip reports of Stiple or fixervi6. Just photo links and a few notes so you know that despite my advancing years and non-appearance at recent club events that: 1) I'm still alive 2) I still ride and 3) I still t...

Re: Utah and Big Bend and stuff
Hey Marty. I did Old Ore Road last September. It was fun, but I didn't think it was that difficult...... We had a hard time getting past the rocky, uphill section (we went South to North). I wouldn't hesitate to do Old Ore again. I won't do Black Gap again. Unless I'm riding in a Jeep. :D Well OK, ...

Re: Utah and Big Bend and stuff
Pro tip - if anyone ever gets the dumb idea to go ride black gap road on a large ADV camping gear laden motorcycle, don't do it. Just, don't. FIFY Did you guys do Old Ore Road? I personally think it is the most fun road in the park and more difficult overall than Black Gap. Black gap has the stepdo...

Haha! Yes, it shouldn't be this difficult. I measured the nut again and it looks like it is 1 1/2". So, bike night tech session? Someone could take video for the FWMR reference library. :-) ...or are you holding out for a socket and torque wrench just to .... I have like 3 of these, never seen...

Are you sure that the nut is 1 3/8"?....most are 1 1/2 for a 1" shank.dufremle wrote:The crescent wrench might work. Not sure I could get close to the torque specs with it, though.
If it is 1 1/2 then I'm sure we could probably over torque it with a pipe over the small end of the box wrench.

Bastille Day Meet & Greet
I have a Concours Owners Group ride listed for Saturday July 14th at 11:30, meeting at the Smokestack restaurant in Thurber. However, I will be at the IHOP in Cleburne celebrating Bastille Day with some French Toast before I leave for Thurber. I've listed a route between the two and for me it's a 3 ...
