Re: master cylinder question.

This might be the right time to upgrade to a (non-OEM) Brembo master cylinder. You'll wonder how you ever lived without one.

Re: Frame welder/builder?

I stopped just short of a four foot drop down to a muddy flats wash that from a distance looked like a concrete parking lot. Hardly any room to turn around and I made about a 40 point turn standing along side the bike trying desperately not to drop it. But Marty -- where is your sense of adventure?...

LOL! Been there, done that @ C-14 dual-sport rides. No bueno. That was the catalyst to me buying the DR. Did you drop her?

Re: Track bike recommendations

Assuming that the bike is mechanically in good shape, the single most important aspect when shopping for a track bike is the suspension. Stock suspensions are almost always terrible, and are thus usually the first thing that needs to be replaced in a track bike. This isn't exactly a cheap upgrade ($...

Winter Projects 2016/2017

Alright, so what are everyone's projects for the Winter? I'll make the start. 675 The triple needs very little, but I do plan on replacing the OEM rotors, probably with Braking SK2 rotors. Other than that, she is good as gold. If I get a wild hair, I might actually upgrade the OEM master cylinder to...

Re: Most recent purchase thread!

Because on day 3 of this ride , I got into an accident in the desert. Turns out, I rode nearly 6,000 miles after that with a bent front axle. :-) WOW!!! I'm glad I asked! Great report! You must keep a journal or voice record your thoughts during the trip, right? Very nice touch at the epilogue. :gr...

Did you officially retire from 2-wheeled riding? Plans for another bike?

Not that long, just a few years. I made a massive down payment, so the financing actually turned out pretty tame.

Re: Most recent purchase thread!

Aw, that's no fun. Had my car sliding sideways through the grass of turn 1 at Texas Motor Speed way about 2 weeks after I bought it. Nothing like the track to teach you the limits of the car and how touchy the throttle can be in 1st gear. :D Yeah, I'd love to, but my rule has always been to only tr...

Re: Ride smart 2017 schedule

I take it that you are a fan of TWS? What makes it such a great place? What about the pros and cons of COTA and MSRH? TWS is a fantastic track for a number of reasons: 1) Aside from COTA (which is disproportionately more expensive), TWS is the fastest track in Texas, and arguably the funnest one as...

I tried to make friends with the C7 (and was initially considering one), but I cannot get myself to like the new look. The lines on that car are just too harsh for my taste, almost Japanese in appearance.
