I ended up getting the hero5 black. The thing that made my decision is that the session doesn't have a replaceable battery. Which not only means you get a longer runtime swapping to a new battery but the life of the camera should theoretically be longer. A couple other thing but not as important are...

Buy hobby grade with spare parts. Also! Forgive me, I forget the technical jargon, but some will go back to zero or hover when you let go of the joystick (for beginners).
