Tire mounting gurus...

Post by nitzer » Sat May 09, 2015 5:58 pm

So, I took it upon myself to learn how to mount my own tires this week. Question: How important is lining up the dot (heaviest point of the tire) to the valve stem on the wheel? The Dunlap site says that the dot (heaviest point) is supposed to be mounted at the valve stem. Mine are about 6 inches off. The tires/wheels will be balanced with weights. Thanks.

Your wheels will explode.

I don't think I've ever managed to line up a dot, I just balance and go

Lining up the marker with the valve stems makes things easier, but since you're presumably balancing them anyway, it isn't a big deal.
