FI Light

Post by Benitez1117 » Thu Dec 10, 2015 8:42 am

Anyone know why the FI light comes on when I start my bike? (2011 ZX-10R)
I turn it off and usually after 2-3 turn off/on sequences it goes away.
Also, when I start it, it revs up a bit and sounds like it idles a little higher than it use to. I haven't changed anything on it and it just started doing this Saturday.
Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Just depending on the weather mine revs higher in the cold when I first start it up

Maybe it's the cold with mine too, which makes sense. That covers the higher rev, I have the repairs manual at home. I will look to see if there is a list of codes that it could be or just reasons why it would come on.

From the ZX-10r.net forums, next time the light is on do the following to get the error code.

Self-Diagnosis
•Push the upper button [A] to display the odometer .

•Push the upper button [A] for more than two seconds.
•The service code [C] is displayed on the LCD by the number of two digits. (The service code of the KIBS and ABS adds “b" at the left side of the code.)

Just a bet, you have a control valve or solenoid sticking. No idea which one.

Battery is bad, jumped it to get started and got pulled over before I could get enough charge back on the battery to restart it.

Don't mind Terry; He is just upset that his bike's FI light never comes on, but that's only because it fell off many moons ago!

My bike doesn't need a FLight light, I always know when it's leaving terra firma.

Maybe check all electrical connections? Electrical grease?

Yeah. Def electrical. But where and why is the question.

I have bought back several vehicles for a loose terminal or a pinched/cut wire. Granted I'm sure the bike is easier, but they are not fun or easy to hunt down.

North Texas Superbike

just sayin, unless it's in your face simple I don't touch electronics, could spend a month hunting down 1 wire.

Then another month hunting down what you screwed up hunting down one wire.

Then you take it to the shop and they have it another month.
