SV650 valve clearance check
Naptime for my boy is a perfect chance to do a little maintenance on the SV. Valve clearance is scheduled for 14,000 miles but the manual says nothing about how often to check it after 14,500 miles. Does that mean these bikes are not expected to survive longer than that? Having done 23,000 before swapping the forks and losing the speedometer, and 11 track days after, it was due.
As you can see, a V-twin is about the easiest motor to do this on, other than a single of course.
Rear cylinder was within tolerance by a good margin, a pleasant surprise. Even better was the front - also within tolerance.
Tomorrow I'll check the TPS calibration and call it done. Oil, filter and coolant change are due after the next track day, which will be the Cresson day coming up.
Fun stuff.

Every 14k.
The maintenance schedule just repeats, skipping the break-in stuff. If you have something schedule for 4k, 8k, 12k, you do it every 4k. If it's only on there once like 14k for valves, check them every 14k.

Once could assume that, but I'd wager on not many bikes making it past 14K. ha!

The world needs Miles
Sometimes you gotta draw the line, but that doesn't mean it can't be squiggly-miles
