No longer stock

Post by fixxervi6 » Tue Dec 06, 2011 9:02 pm

Anyone that has had any interest or curiosity in shifters, you need to give this thing a test ride! (and or DD's, or both) oh and (members only, sorry, if I don't know you you'll be shot for going near my baby).

The bike feels WAY different, I assume that is due to the tune, have to "re learn" the throttle feel, feels and sounds mean as hell, can't wait till I can go out and "test" it properly, when its 30 out I don't feel much like getting into the throttle, in part to the nice cold tires and in part from the nice, cold, rider.

+5 HP

This thing shifts like butter, putting around town I was just doing regular clutch shifts and it was as if it was stock so I like that, on the highway, just pow pow pow no jerking or anything just smooth.

For those that have tossed forth hate, no test rides for you

It'll look much better when I get the white walls off the tires and mud off the bike.

Nice! How close was I on my HP estimate? I can't remember but I think I said 121.

119, sae no "adjustments" is my understanding.

Dave was saying there are lots of pipes that bring the HP DOWN so +5 is muy bueno. The bump in the mid range is a little higher, and either its just the sound or the throttle response but it "felt" a little beefier there, but not sure if its in my head, not sure if you can feel that small of a difference.

Ok, that exhaust may be expensive, but it's dead sexy. I love how it integrates with the plastics.

I still say the quick shifter is an expensive way to save wear and tear on your left-hand fingers. :D

I absolutely love shorty exhausts. That is one sexy looking pipe! Also, the bike is definitely in tune, that's a very nice straight power line!

The purpose of the purchase was, for fun, and it is, fun. Will it make me a faster track rider? If there is a difference it will be marginal for someone at my level.

Some people lower, put on chrome, stickers, LED's HID headlights and other "bling", my bling just happens to be a performance bling, its not a "fix". I will agree that if you don't know how to clutchless shift and you want a QS to fix that problem, you need to learn out to ride first. I've been clutchless shifting up AND DOWN for a while now, it works, this is better.

The cost was marginal, a difference of like $150 to add the QS, which was by far and away NOT the bulk of the cost. I figure if I'm putting on exhaust and getting a tuner, spending the little bit extra for a QS was worth it instead of later on down the road trying to add one for even more cost. My #1 mod goal has been the exhaust, and a full system without a fuel controler is just, well, half way doing it. If I had a 1K I would have gotten the TC with the remote adjustment as well, because again, the next step up in cost, wasn't that much.

The stand alone QS isn't worth it from what I've read unless its pure racing application, you end up with codes being thrown and backfires and shit due to the lack of the fuel controller/piggy back to calm things down.

The sound of this thing is nuts, shakes the ground, I'm gonna do a ride soon as the temps break 40 just to get out and play with this thing, its destroying me inside to see it in the garage, just sitting there, saying, ride me.

There is a racer on another forum that avoided QS's for years, 10 years or something like that, then he got sponsorships and needed a little more edge so he put one on. He said it made a big enough difference he had to change all of his brake markers because his speed on the straights was raised a considerable amount, that he had no idea he lost that much speed blipping the throttle for the shifts.

And you can still "shift normal" with this thing, but you can not do the blip shift, cause, well, you can blip, but it still cuts the power and does the shift, you gain nothing with the blip shift.

At low RPM and round town stuff the clutch has always been best for me, even with this thing I still plan on doing plenty of clutch shifts for around town, keeps my brain in tune and it just "feels right" hard to explain, QS appears to work best at higher rpm under load.

Mods to bikes are a lot of fun, and sure, gains can be minimal out of it, it's all about customizations and making your ride YOUR RIDE.

I can see his face now when he comes home to clean his bike or start her up just to listen to her since it is too cold to ride (for some of us cold weather wimps, it is), then he sees it completely bedazzled in awesome designs of course, AND apple stickers!!!!

Are you *sure*?

When was the last time you had your plastics off? Or your seat off? Or lifted your tank?

I'm amazed how fast Will and Grinner can work.

Hey Fixxer where did you get the quickshifter and such for your bike? I might go with something like yours for the new bike but not sure yet.
