Kawasaki 2008 - 2012 ZX-6R & ZX-10R Recall

Post by Firewa11 » Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:38 pm

I got a recall notice in the mail, looks like Kawasaki is recalling certain 2008 - 2012 ZX-10R bikes, and 2009 - 2012 ZX-6R Bikes to replace the regulator / rectifier.

http://www.ultimatemotorcycling.com/201 ... -10r-zx-6r" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You can go here and put in your VIN to see if it's in the recall list:

WTF they do this for kawi, but not triumph, everyone knows triumph is the worst with the regulators!

That's because Kawasaki admits they have a problem and then solves it for their customers. Triumph wipes it's ass on a British flag and throws it in your face, then charges you for the pleasure! :)

uh huh...give it time. I loved my 650, for about a year and a half, then I was annoyed with it for about a year and a half, then I hated it for about 6 months, then I tried to sell if for about 3 months, and then hit a car with it and finnaly got rid of it.

Don't be mad that they worked out nearly all of the problems with the 675. maybe it's just time you ride triumph again!

The problen isn't the Triumph, it's the electronics. The British have never gotten electronics in vehicles to work properly. Ever.

There are plenty more gsxrs in the club. and as of now i still plan on getting another triumph on the next bike. I'm thinking the 675R, but then again the new yami is coming out and a new 675 as well!

NO way I would go near a yami

675 has a wonderful street power curve, if your happy with it why trade up.

I have zero brand loyalty. My loyalty is to quality and value, nothing else. If I like the bike, I'll buy it. I don't care what brand it is or where it is made. And I really don't care how many or few championships the bike has recently won in any given class.

Few things are as inductive as motorcycle brand pissing matches. "I owned two Yamahas that never gave me any problems, therefore Yamaha rules!" or "I owned a Honda once and it gave me trouble, therefore Honda sucks!". Pick any brand, find the corresponding forums, and you will find plenty of people bitching about this and that. Every model has its potential issues, and the fact that your particular bike may or may not show those symptoms does not render your bike representative one way or another.

I will give the 650 credit, it was a tank. Hit a car with it and just a minor scrach. Ran off the track I don't know how many times only every got a fork seal leak. Jumped off a curb and landed on its side, only cracked the one cover plate. The thing was a beast. Just to bad it wouldn't start.

You know, funny thing, my problem just went away, can't reproduce it, even when it was cold.

Some people speculated at fuel, most said no, but now I have to rethink that, kinda strange it was doing it ALL the time the one day just stopped.

No, it just hasn't been cold. So he's not seeing the cold start problem.

My hunch is some part has too tight a tolerance. Get the engine block below a certain temp and it shrinks just enough that it makes a butterfly valve or something stick.

Fixxer, toss your bike in the freezer for a while and see if your cold start problem comes back. :D

Thats just it, even on the few really cold days we had, as low as 28 degrees, no problems. Its just odd.

Sounds like your bike got married! :SideSplittingLaughter:

For reals, I just enjoy some friendly banter and to get people riled up about the bike they support. I've had a Kawasaki and 2 Suzukis, I'm looking at a Yamaha next, and have considered Honda as well. My only gripe with a Triumph is it's hard to find folks to work on them, and parts are very expensive by comparison to the many aftermarket folks pumping out parts for the big 4 Jap manufacturers. I want to know if I need a new engine case cover I'm not going to have to shell out 2x the money over a jap bike to get a replacement.

It's just like a vehicle for me. I've only driven and owned (for myself) Chevrolet vehicles except one Ford. Do I dislike Ford? Sure, but not because of personal experience, based entirely on flipping open the hood... go look under the hood of brand new a F-150 and Silverado and you'll see what I'm talking about. You can tell the Silverado looks to be built of better quality stuff. Same goes for Bikes. I'm not going to buy a bike that doesn't look to be built of quality stuff.

I always make a jab about a bike being in MotoGP, but I'm seriously only just riling up the troops. It's like me going out and buying a Ford Fusion because that's what Nascar races. There is absolutely NOTHING in a Ford Fusion that comes from NASCAR. And very little from MotoGP bikes makes it's way to it's showroom bikes. Technology concepts.

Well, unless you're Ducati. Nobody gives a shit about them. Those are shitty bikes :-)
