Carb Sync

Post by fixxervi6 » Tue Apr 24, 2012 8:39 pm

Anyone know a good place to take an '01 250 to get a carb sync done?

I don't think cyclewerkz works on bikes that old, the shop down the road from me doesn't' do it, not sure where to take it.

I plan on riding it more after I get that done, you know, helping my daughter out, because, we all know it's not good on the bikes to let them sit too long, ya know.

You could do it yourself. This is for the Ninja 500 but you could do it on the 250.

Yea, I'm going to pay someone this time around.

I've really been diving head first into motorcycle work, short of cleaning a carb on a lawn mower or pulling one off of a car I'm new to carb work.

Since getting bikes I've cleaned jets, shimmed needles, messed around with breaking stuck float valves free, that's enough for now, I'll save the sync for a later lesson, after a while I get sick of working on these things.

I've kinda been looking for a shop that will do a once over on my 07 Ninja 250 that won't break the bank. I know the bike is running a little lean and since I don't know what maintenance was actually done I'll like to have someone who knows what they are doing take a look. This weekend while I'm home maybe I'll venture into just doing a adjustment to the mixture. The whole procedure is posted on the http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Main_Page" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; site. It runs much better now that the temps are coming up and I put that Seafoam in the tank. Basically the bike had 200 miles put on it all of last year. I've been trying my best to blow all of the gunk out of it though through liberal use of high RPMs... :))

Cycle Werkz works on bikes up to 10 years old. Being the 250s are pretty much all the same I don't theink they would have a problem doing it.

Then maybe I won't feel like the redheaded step-child on the 250.... :HeadScratch: Ok, I still might but it won't be because of the bike. I have bike envy...

As long as there are triumphs in the group you'll never be a red headed step child. 2 and 4 are even numbers, 3... 3 is just... ODD :PillowFight:

Telomere is also on a 250

For the record, I don't know why I'm picking on triumphs, I think Jim may be rubbing off on me...

Well here at our office I have the Ninja 250, another IT guy has a Suzuki SV650, the network guy has an FJZ1300, and there is a Triumph Speed 4. Don't know who owns it though. Since it's a Triumph...who cares...LOL. Just kidding. I don't know enough about them to love 'em or hate them.

675 and gsxr 750 are super close, the 675 has a stronger middle, the 750 has a stronger top end. I would say that the 675 power profile is more street friendly than the 750.

My Triumph is a 4, and 1 is an odd number too but totally legit in the supermoto world.

What's ODD is 750. It needs to make up its mind. It's like the bisexual of the displacement world. :D

Our office is right of Heritage Pkwy...exit 65 (I think) off 35W. We are down the street from the Mercedes offices. I guess Ross Perot Jr. owns the buildings. Address is listed as Fort Worth.

Here's an interesting tid bit. Nick and I were looking at this the other week at work. Here is the dyno torque specs for 600cc bikes.
Image

Here is the one for the 1k cc bikes.
Image

Now the values are lower than a 1k, but compare the line, and how the 675 delivers the torque. It's not as much torque as a 1k but it delivers it the same. It's more lateral than those crazy 4 cylinders.

Oh and..

hahahaha.
