Was anti, 3 flushes later is now wetter. Will report results after trial by fire.

Update: old freeze was green and clean, final flush and burp gave clear distilled water. Bike now can idle at stops without coookig off. Fan actually lowers temp when it turns on now. Also waxed the fairings in celebration. Love the water wetter.

Re: It s begun
Good to know. I'm thinking about doing that to the Speed Four for track duty, it runs mighty hot. I don't want to do it to all my bikes because radiator flushes suck.
Is the triple flush necessary? Will there be a problem if there is antifreeze in the system with the wetter?
How cold can the wetter mixture get before it freezes?

Re: It s begun
Rhino, to somewhat answer your question...i don't know if it will hurt it, but I think i did more than triple flush on my "triple" lol My bike isn't all that old, but there was gunk in there that needed extra cleaning. I even ran my through "hot" and "cold" cycles and reflushed to make sure it really got everything. I figured why not?!?!:)

My way isnt probably the way a tech or even someone else on these forums would do it, but here ya go:Rhino wrote: Is the triple flush necessary? Will there be a problem if there is antifreeze in the system with the wetter?
I picked up 3 gallons of distilled water ($3.24) and 1 bottle of water wetter (~ $7.75). Apply 4 ounces of water wetter to one of the gallons and set it aside (shaken, not stirred). Empty the overflow into a bucket then the radiator, i did this while my bike was at 150ish but i dont think it makes a big difference.
Refill the overflow and radiator and burp before capping (this is the first flush). 90% of the people will tell you the next step isnt needed but i liked doing it. Check to make sure you didnt splash any anti-freeze on the tires and take the bike around the block really quick. I did that to induce some lean-angles to maybe slosh the fluids around and mix better.
The next two flushes you probably dont need to take it around the block, but i did anyways on the next two flushes because the garage is hot and it felt good.
After your bikes third pee you should be getting a very very clear stream, the last step is to fill and burp with the wetter and youre done. I did a peak heat trial on my way to my moms house to get some lunch and i was on average 10 degrees cooler than usual.
What i have noticed is that temperature spikes and dips register much faster now, i suspect this is because the fluid is conducting heat much better than the anti-freeze. I recommend this very much but once we hit fall ill be switching back out to standard anti-freeze.

Re: It s begun
You may want to consider Engine Ice. It is a little more expensive, but it has a much lower freezing temp and you won't have to worry about switching back to anti-freeze come winter, as Texas never gets cold enough for Engine Ice to freeze.Haste wrote: ... once we hit fall ill be switching back out to standard anti-freeze.

good job haste, that's pretty much how i do mine. I also use Engine ice, but water wetter is even better if you are not worried about freezing

I actually walked into the local O'rilies looking for engine ice and they told me none was in stock. Was about to leave and saw the wetter and was like "Fuck it, we'll do it live".milesmiles wrote:good job haste, that's pretty much how i do mine. Re: It s begun
You can add water wetter to antifreeze like engine ice, but in my exp. it worjs best wuth plain distilled water.
