Post by Fish R1 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 9:08 pm

Help!!!!!! I need a right side foot peg bracket for my 2008 Yamaha R1. If anyone has info on how to lay my hands on one QUICKLY I would really appreciate a p.m.

The attached pictures are tough to make out the break in the bracket. Trust me it will not pass tech on Sunday

Probably a dealer, I don't know anyone else with an R1.

I have plenty of 250r parts, but nothing for an R1

Hit the r1 forum and ask for only local parts

I have been looking at this fix from 4 different directions.

1, New part ( Nearest location Clovis New Mexico)

2, Used part ( Salvage shops closed for labor day weekend)

3, Repair existing part ( I would not trust any type of fusing the broken pieces together and welding is not an option)

4, The spoon method, bridge the break with a back of bracket spice over the break ( That might work except there are back of bracket mounting locations for other parts of the bike machined into the bracket.
Also the offsets that would have to be bridged could compromise the the fix itself)

Turns out a 2008 R1 doesn't have a kick start. *shrug* :D

I was doing some track day prep work on my bike Friday evening. I was taking the bike off the rear swing arm stand and I lost control of the bike and it landed on its right side. The new Yamaha OEM part has been ordered and should be in town Thursday.

The stand drop, been there almost done that, I caught the bike with my knee under the passenger peg. Saved the bike but I limped around for two weeks.

Supose we should put a disclamer on the main page? Not responsible for costly, addictive behavior? ha!
