What started as an oil change ended with Fixxer dropping most of a bike off at CycleWerkz.

As for the date/time, I'm also available to lead if Breakker manages to do his thing on the bikes again. :SideSplittingLaughter:

Some people should just leave those oil changes to the professionals lol

Indeed.

If you ever change your own oil, use common sense when screwing in the drain bolt. Don't trust your torque wrench. If you crack the oil pan, it's apparently a huge pain in the butt to replace.

I have to agree with Rhino. The ONLY time I EVER stripped the treads in my oil pan was the ONE TIME I used a torque-wrench. Luckly on my ST1300, the bolt screws into a plate on the bottom of the pan that can be replaced relatively cheaply.

I have a 250r torn apart in the garage, so there are tools all over the place, I happen to have a 1/2" drive ratchet right by my foot with the right sized socket so I grabbed it and put the drain plug back in.

About the time my brain was reminding me to take it easy due to the big ratchet it spun free, stripped out the threads and cracked the oil pan.

Jim got me drunk while I was working on the bike so I cut off a mount plate with a dremal and then broke some bolts before I threw in the towel and dropped it off at cyclewerkz.

And the lesson to be learned here:

Don't let Jim get you drunk while working on bikes. :D

To be clear, he had already had one Woodchuck before I got there, so he was already buzzed. I just handed him a second one. :D

Now I know that when he says 'F it, where's the Dremel' I will stop him from working on the bike. :SideSplittingLaughter:

It's was more like a 6 pack (you brought 2 over if I recall correctly, and I do) I was all uspet and Jim handed me the 7th woodchuck and said screw it get the sawsall out and just cut the damn thing off.

I said no man that's too much, I'll use the dremel.

It was all down hill from there.

Probably, but it's hot as hell outside so I'm not going out there till the sun goes down.

I have to confess, I've used everything but a torque wrench on my drain plug, I usually go hand tight and give it a half turn from there and call it good. Risky, perilous behavior?
