Winter Projects 2012/2013

Post by Striple » Fri Dec 14, 2012 6:07 pm

The best part about the "off-season" is the fact that you get to complete a few projects on your bikes. What are your planned projects for this Winter?

C-14
- Ignore the "off-season" as much as possible done
- Install a radiator guard
- Install a rebuilt/custom seat
- Valve clearance adjustment

SV650S
- Get the shock fully serviced and resprung done
- Install new cartridges in the forks done
- Install a new master cylinder
- Install fresh brake pads done
- Complete a 520 conversion done
- Adjust the gearing done
- Install captive wheel spacers done
- Paint the fairings
- Mount fresh tires done
- Replace the coolant done
- Change the oil done

R6
- Get the suspension dialed in
- Paint the fairings
- Mount fresh tires
- Replace the coolant done
- Change the oil done

S3:
- Repair crash damage.
- Sell or trade for a 2-up bike. Looking like maybe a VTX 1300.

Versys:
- Hopefully a DS conversion with a 19" front, maybe spoked wheels on both ends.
- Suspension upgrades
- Steel braded brake lines
- Oil change
- Valve adjustment
- Whatever else was supposed to be done like 6k miles ago for service...

Continue suspension adjustments to the stock suspension. Otherwise not a damn thing except enjoy street and track riding on a brand new motorcycle. :-D

There are alot of good winter projects being discussed on this thread. Good Luck everyone take pictures and post please.

for the ninja 500r you may want to look at a ZX6 shock or GSXR shock, better than SV shock and they can be had for almost nothing on ebay.

I'll pass it on for what I paid for it, I'll have to go look but I think I paid $35 - $45, something in that range.

Find a set of Panniers for it.
At least paint the new plastics I have for it ~ at most paint all the plastics I have for it.
Find a "Touring" windscreen or make one.
New Chain - 25k+ on the current one. Maybe sprockets if I need them.
Maybe get the valves adjusted, throttle bodies synchronized again, new timing chain.
Flushed cooling system, radiator guard.
Flush Brake system / new pads.
Fix the broken turn signal at the back ~ customize the turn signals to have yellow running lights too.
Rebuild the forks / rear shock too.
Radar Detector / Laser deflector
Prep for a Bun-Burner Run.
Sitting on the couch, watching TV, isn't living.

There's one down the street from me that was for sale for a long time and is now a rental. They'd probably still be interested in selling.

Edit: Ha, I just checked it out, it's my house but backwards. Looks like basically the same floorplan but all different materials inside.
