Rotella T6

I wanted to share this with everyone. I did my own oil change and was looking at the different oils that everyone was talking about. One that came up often was Rotella T6 which is full synthetic 5w-40. A bunch of people have been using it on their S1000RR's and loved the results so far. I figured I would give it a shot seeing as it is about $25/gal at WalMart. I have been about 2k miles so far with this oil in the bike and so far it has been very good.

People have been saying there is less vibration when they use this oil .... I can not say for sure. Never had a vibration problem that I was aware of. I can tell you that the bike shifts easier..... I dont know why but it does. Seems very smooth on the shifts. The temperature has been the same or lower since using the oil. The oil was designed for high performance and heavy work load diesel engines.

In any case if you are looking for an oil that gives you full synthetic protection and works well in sportbikes but gives you the price of non synthetic oil then you should check this out. I will keep yall updated.

I will answer any questions that I can about this stuff. I also would like to send a sample to be tested. Just gotta get with the expert about that part.

Demon, I've been running it in the triumph for about 8k on it(with 3oil changes). I've been nothing but happy. Now keep in mind I do change it more frequent. If like to send it off for an oil analysis like striple does, but I haven't. Anyways I have 30k on my bike and I'm perfectly happy with it so far

I've used the Rotella the last two oil changes, and I haven't noticed any ill effects. It is cheaper than most synthetics. Especially for me as I've been getting it free thru my work. I use it on all of my delivery vehicles (M2 Freightliner/Cummins ISL9 Turbo Diesels).

All my bikes are running Rotella T6 right now except for the KTM, and I'll probably switch it over at the next change as well (the mfg's recommendation is a Swiss oil that goes for $23/qt!). The VFR went almost 80k with no engine troubles, the FZ1 is at 55k right now, both of them running Rotella from about the 15k mark.

Used it in the SV650 for my latest oil change. Used it in the 250 Ninja also.

I'm going to give this stuff a shot for my first oil change. Time to get a better torque wrench as well, going to do my own 600-mile service today and save myself $150 ;-)

I've read all over the interwebs (and the club) that Rotella T6 is fantastic oil for bikes, even racers use it (it gets expensive changing oil after every race). I just did all the service parts, picked up a better torque wrench as well, so should be all set. Added some Water Wetter to the coolant as well. I am going to run factory Suzuki filter though, I've read a lot about various filters, and while I used to swear by K&N, apparently they are not in the top of the list in filtering performance.

The only thing that still makes me want to use a K&N is the fact that the BMW filter uses a special tool. The K&N has a nut welded to it so no need for a special tool.

I use bosch oil filters. The one for mu bike is like 5 or 6 bucks at auto zone

I know the factory yamaha filters are cheap card board and paper... Not sure about suzuki, but they're probably similar

I run car filters. they're bigger, hold more oil, and typically filter better. There's a post in the maintenance section with cross references.

Problem with the Gixxers and running car filters is there is limited space to remove the filter / fit it without taking the headers off.
