Where to get chain/sprox?

Post by Stardog » Wed Mar 20, 2013 6:25 pm

One of you guys told me a good place to contact about chain and sprocket combos but I have crashed since then and as such can not remember where. Help?

Cheers,
Jon

Just saw this. I ordered from MotoMummy. Gotta get my junk done by next weekend in case I am off of work for the 1.3 weekend.

Are you changing your gearing or just switching to a 520 setup?

I decided to go ahead and gear the piss out of it and see how I like it. -1 +2 520.

Yeesh, your speedo is going to be FUBAR. Prepare to shift early and often.

But on the upside, you'll have a wheelie monster.

I ordered a speedo healer. I decided that I wanted to see what it would be like for it to start making power below the speed limit. I can always take out a link and put on a smaller rear sprocket on if I don't like it.

You won't be shifting so early and often that it will annoy you. Check out any 600 thread and see all the comments. Everyone was worried, but after they got it done they were much happier. This is usually the number one upgrade people do. Fast cheap and easy and you will be putting your power down more effectively.

The main thing you'll notice is higher rpm when cruising at highway speeds..

And lower top speed

I seriously doubt -1 +2 turns a 600 into a wheelie monster with an American on it

It will make it easier, but by no means a wheelie monster. It's not like you will be keeping up with the liter bikes or anything.

My zx10... First gear, 60 mph, crack it and the wheel is up til about 105 when I shifted to second...
My 800, 60mph is 2nd gear going to 3rd and I'm like... Damn I wish this thing had fairings

-1 did the trick on my Versys, and I'm much more "American" than 84. Driving out of corners on the street frequently picked up my front tire.

That was what I was thinking. I mean it has 90 something HP not 160.

HP means squat for pulling wheelies. Dirt bikes wheelie easily in multiple gears with almost no HP to speak of.

It's all about torque and gearing.

Have you ever picked up a dirt bike? Light as hell...that's all I'm saying. And motor look at those motors!

HA! I was thinking that the 1.3 was next weekend. It seems that I have plenty of time to get my crap together.
