Winter Maintenance 2013 / 2014

Post by U-Turn » Sun Nov 10, 2013 7:30 pm

Added Handgrip Warmers. The inexpensive kind, Pulled the front fairings off to better route the wires and zip tie em up. Mounted the switch in the plastic, looks pretty good.
New Headlight bulbs, easier to replace when the fairings are off.
Cleaning everything around the dash area is much easier too.
Next will be Speed Bleeders and new main-brake-line replacement. Found a kink in it today.
Soon to replace the Radiator hoses - they are 12 years old. Flush radiator before winter gets here.
Need to fix the speedometer. It's electric and something to do with a magnetic field generated by a widget by the sprocket down there.
And I really should replace that chain.
Sitting on the couch, watching TV, isn't living.

Probably going to be a 2014 Versys. It fixes pretty much all of my gripes about my Versys, and adds ABS.

I was looking at all the adventure tourers at the motorcycle show. The only two I liked were the new Versys and the V-Strom 650 Adventure. Everything else was too tall, too heavy, too expensive, uncomfortable, or some combination of those things. I was really thinking about a KLR until I sat on one--it was uncomfortable just sitting on it at the show. No way I'd do long miles on it.

There's a Speed Triple up at Eurosport that they'll probably straight trade you for. :D

I don't know if you saw, but that Trophy sold over the weekend.

I saw that. It's the reason for my comment in the "that moment when" thread.
