Maintenance Day

Post by shilka99 » Fri Feb 07, 2014 6:42 am

Change in plans, weekends are available now.

Work available includes just about anything needed. Tire swaps, oil changes, new chain, suspension fluid, brakes etc. We can even do fiberglass repairs if necessary.
I also thought maybe a safety wiring tutorial would come in handy

And of course everyone is welcome to come check out the RC30.

I'm also considering some billet aluminum FWMR key rings but this is just an idea at the moment. staff input will be required for this to move forward.
And I need a new set of track shackles so if nothing else we can have them running on the CNC while we work on bikes.

If you're interested, reply to the poll and everyone will see what date to show up. Time is totally up to everyone else. I have all day open so if someone is particularly keen they are welcome to come over at 8:00am. I'll post the address closer to the date chosen. We'll need to consider food and drinks as well but I'm open to suggestions.

That actually sounds pretty awesome. I need to replace the stator and R/R on my S3, but I've never done the job before. It wouldn't hurt to have somebody around to give advice.

Rhino. I've done mine twice and our bikes are all that much different. I'm down for this depending on work of course

If no one can make it during the week I'll see what I can do to host it on a saturday. It will take some arranging because I usually have a crowd of kids and whenever they see me in the garage they want to join in.

If I had some high pressure nitrogen we could do it but its not something I use often enough... Talk to Roger at your next track day. I even had a busted gsxr shock to practise on but I gave it to Herr Doktor.

I'm still trying to arrange for a weekend to hold this maintenance day. I'll post as soon as I have some results.

It's really easy with a very mechanical friend who's hosting bike maintenance who has a tire changer.

There is the problem. If you can't make it over to Shaun's, you're welcome to swing by my place and we'll swap them out.

I need to do a flush and fill on the SV coolant...not sure when the previous owner changed it last. I think I'm on call this weekend so I'll be in the FTW area this weekend.

We were told it is too small for any tire changer. Have you changed a 50cc tire on your tire changer?

The harbor freight changer will clamp wheels as small as 11" (as far as i can tell - its tough to measure with 3 clamps at 120 degrees)
And if all else fails theres nothing we cant achieve with sufficiently large hammers.

I think that is the minimum listed size for my tire changer to work. I'll be in your neck of the woods on Wednesday night, and can swing by and pick it up. I'll give it a good workout and see what I can do by this weekend, if you want.
