Fort Worth, MSF Course locations.

Post by WillK675 » Fri Apr 16, 2010 5:03 pm

I know it's been discussed in other threads, and there is always :Google: but I'm not having much luck finding what i'm looking for. So I thought I'd make a thread with the topic so others could find it easily in the future.

I'm looking to take the advanced MSF course for the :cop: experience I had recently. The only place I've found online offering the advanced course is in Carrollton. I'm not wanting to go that far for it, if I don't have to. I know some of you have taken the advanced course already. Where did you take it at?

And if we can try, I know it's hard, can we keep this one :icon_ontopic: as I am making it so others will be able to reference it later?

Here is a list of locations from the MSF Foundation site. Guess you could call and see if one near you offers the Advanced Course.

The advance courses are often times not scheduled until there are enough people interested in taking one. Your best bet it to call around to various school and just tell them you want/need and advance class and go from there.

They have a location in North Richland Hills, but not sure where they would offer the Experienced Rider Course at. But I'd suggest giving them a call.

I took the ERC with A+ rider training, or something like that. It was located at the big parking lot just north of downtown across the river, east of Main St.

Yeah I went thru there, and only found the one in Carrolton. And that class is during the camping trip.

They are the ones with the advanced class in Carrolton. I'll e-mail them and see if they are going to do it in NRH and don't have it on the schedule.

Well, there appear to be a couple of places that do the Experienced Rider Course in Bedford Pretty regularly.

http://www.texasmtc.com/

http://www.texasrider.com/ <-- They do an ERC once a month.

Beyond that Carrolton is the only place I'm showing that has the ERC course on their schedule.

I did find that the MSF foundation has their own campus in Irving, but no online schedule. And it appears that they offer some additional classes, for dirbikes, ATVs, a controls class and more. http://www.msf-campus.org

I've done the Texas Rider course a couple of times. They're good and you have the convenience of being able to schedule it with them offering monthly classes.

I loved it. I took it in February, so there were only 3 people signed up. One guy didn't show at all, I think because it was about 35 degrees in the early morning, so it was a chilly ride out there. The instructor I got was on a FJR, so he had a ton of good advice for handling a big sport-tourer. With only 2 of us in the class, we basically got private lessons. The instructor went over all the normal stuff, but he had lots of time and attention to give us individual critiques.

I was surprised that parking lot practice would be as good for me as it was. I was WAY more comfortable on the Concours after taking the class.
