For Sale: 2012 CBR250R ABS. SOLD

Post by WickerMan » Mon Jun 01, 2015 11:18 am

2012 CBR250R ABS tri-color with about 6800 miles or so. Very good condition, never down, no problems, no rattles, no stalls, no dents, no scratches. Factory serviced on time. Fresh Bridgestone S20 evos. Newish factory Yuasa battery. Only modifications are a painted black exhaust heat shield and foam grips over the stock ones. Low to mid 60's mpg. Factory warranty until The end of October 2016. I think $3200 aught to do it. Pictures on request. Thanks for looking or passing this on. Not on CL.

I was thinking the new R3. I was also thinking CBR500R ABS, but it's a little on the porky side. If it sells soon, I may get a used 500 and ride that till they bring ABS for the R3s over here, then I'm set. I had such a blast on the 250 at MSRC, I kind of want to stay light.

I demoed the RC390 but it was too rough and unrefined motor and transmission wise, plus it ran one bar from the top on engine temp on a 70 degree day. Throw in an unusable seat and poor Indian build quality; I ruled it out. I would gladly give up a few ponies, lb/ft, and pounds for the quality, seat, ride and silky drivetrain of the R3.

They (bike mags) say the 500F, the "naked" version is the best of the Honda 500 bikes. It was kinda hard for me to believe that Yamaha didn't offere ABS on the R3, it would be a must for me also.

I thought about the F, a little less weight, but I really like faired models a lot more, and I'm on the highway a bunch and would like to keep some of the wind off me.

I test rode that FZ-07 at the Yamaha demo days, and it was a fun machine and powerful too, the fasting thing I have ever been on. But I'm just not a naked fan. Plus it's a little too much for me right now, power wise.

ABS is my least used least favorite feature on my bike. Nice to have but no way a decision point for me.

I was thinking it wasn't a deal breaker for me really. But I was coming off the track and watching a crash at the same time and I looked up and was closing really fast on the guy in front of me. I instinctively grabbed a bunch of front brake and the CBR stopped really quick. The guy behind me said the back wheel came off the ground a little even with my ABS. Without it, who knows? I'm just not that good in panic situations yet, and if I can get what I want with ABS, I would rather have it.

I locked up the front AND rear at the same time on the 250 once. Earned myself some nice bruises and a pissed off wife for that one.

Do you know, did the ABS actually kick in? In 10+ years I can only thing of 2, maybe 3 cases where I actually locked up my front wheel, and of those, one was semi on purpose, trying to do a stoppie without enough traction.

Bike ABS has anti-lift tech, it's not just about locking up the wheel.

It did activate, I could feel a very slight pulse through the lever, and it stopped so fast it was just for a second. That's the second time it's happened. Going through the alley behind my duplex my neighbor in a F150 came around the corner straight at me, he said my back wheel was barely off the ground too.
A guy on the R3 forum said he went over the bars when he panic stopped.

+2, although they weren't really panic stops, more of a collision.

As I have not had much interest, I have lowered the price to $2800. It has fresh synthetic oil from the dealer yesterday and about 7250 miles now. And it is on CL.

I think you're officially relieved of you amateur status once you do that. You are then a profesional stunter. No one says you have to do it well to be a stunter.

Nah, he's who I was thinking of. Basically rainbowed his bike right over himself.

Also cracked a wheel laterally, which almost never happens. It was a heck of a yard sale.
