Scrap metal pieces

Post by DarcShadow » Wed May 18, 2016 8:42 am

Anyone have some scrap metal pieces that I could use to build this.

The base plate in the image is 1/4" steel plate 6.5" diameter. I would need one at most 5.25" x 7".

The other large circle pieces 4" in diameter. In the photo they are 2.5" washers welded into a 4" washer with a 1/2" nut welded to that.

I might be able to help, but please define exactly how many pieces of what you want, and what size. If we have it, and you need it precut to more specific dimensions, let me know (even if you want to send me a sketch with dimension).

A) why buy if some one has some scrape pieces that will work,
B) the plate sizes are not standard washer sizes and I'd like to avoid having to weld two washers together to get the desired results.

Lonestare, I sent you a pdf with the details.

Other folks scrap metal/junk is the way to go first. I have an old plastic litter box in the garage that I toss metal scraps into but nothing matches what you need.
If Terry can't get something then this place might have what you need. I looked online and hot rolled A36 steel plate .250" X 7" X 7" is $14.23 plus tax.

Been meaning to post these, just keep getting busy with other things.

So I took the pieces that lonestar made for me and made this.

I then used it to hold a tumbler from Walmart and did this.

The monogram doesn't show up well in that photo, but looks great in person. The color is a candy pink, meaning that it is transparent and the metal below shows threw giving it a reflective character. A few minor "problems" with it, but I'm very please for my first run at doing this.

No, but if you still want it, I now have some. Although if the part is not already shiny I'll have to find some silver/chrome powder to put down first.

Can only assume you forgot a word or two there. How big of a part is it? Neighbor is in the process of building himself a larger oven and judging from the heating elements he showed me, the oven will likely be able to hold an actual bike.

Second go at a cup. The black under yellow turned out much better but I have some uneven coloring of the yellow. I think I may have burnt it a little.

Hey, on a side note, we were talking about a new logo and such...a cobra or rattler would rock. We could rename ourselves the Cobra Skulls. :SideSplittingLaughter:

As a thank for the pieces to make the stand Lonestar, I've made you a cup. This is a 20oz Ozark Trail tumbler and is my first test of a design on top of solid color.
