Ride Smart Sept 11-12
Ride Smart Sept 11-12
Questions: How does the Cresson 1.3 compare to the 1.7 mile track? Has anyone just ridden their bike to the track instead of hauling it down, pros/cons? Is anyone planning on riding these days?

Re: Ride Smart Sept 11-12
My first track day was on the 1.3 and I rode the bike down with my wife bringing the truck with supplies. If there are several people from the club there you can probably get away with riding by yourself if you make arrangements for someone else to bring refreshments other than water and the hot dogs / burgers. Others from the club will likely have most of the tools you need.Tooner wrote:Questions: How does the Cresson 1.3 compare to the 1.7 mile track? The cons were having to put the bike in track condition at the track, and being kind of tired at the end of the day. If you skip the last couple of rounds it might not be as bad. In any case, U-Haul trailers are cheap. I think it was about $40 dollars for two days, but prices can vary as the date approaches. EDIT: Last time I rented a trailer and it was well worth it in my opinion.
I thought the 1.3 was slower, but on the 300 it was a lot of fun. I wouldn't hesitate to go do that track again, in fact I am strongly considering it. If nothing else important comes up I will likely do it.

I really like the 1.3. It has elevation changes and is a whole lot more technical. You wont be hitting top speeds but the flow of it and all is great in my opinion. I have ridden to track days and trailered and let me tell you that you will be happy you put it on a trailer or in the back of a truck if you go that route. If I didn't have an option to trailer or haul the bike then I would ride it to the track for sure its just nicer to trailer it. On that note if we have guys going then you have a decent chance of being able to take a spot on someones trailer.

1.3 is a great track, out side of COTA, the 1.3 is my favorite Texas track. Compared to the 1.7 yeah, it's a bit slower but you don't notice it because you're working the bike nearly the entire lap, there's no real straight where you can "relax". It can be exhausting, but thrilling as well, and when you get a lap right it feels soo good.

Plus in the event of something happening to you or your bike...a trailer is pretty much essential unless there are other members that can haul it away...
Well someone had to say it... I didn't think I'd like the 1.3, but after I rode it I did like it.

I'm in for Sunday the 11th in level 1. Looks like level 1 and 2 are full now. But they have added a cruiser/touring class for Sunday.

I have 80/20 tires on it right now so I wouldn't want to track that.JeffStrom wrote:The street bike class is still open. Take the GS.fixxervi6 wrote:I was thinking about it but I thought too long... I have a good set of tires on too

Anyone else setting up tonight? I about to head down. I'll have the black Ninja 300. I put a bunch of blue tape on it so it will be easy to identify.

I wish I would have thought about going sooner for the 1.3 before they sold out.

They have a large area reserved for members blocked off in front of the classroom. It was already getting pretty full so I had to park off to the side nearest the driveway. Puke green canopy over a black Ninja 300.

Looks pretty packed this morning. Goes without saying but I will anyway, feel free to park over with me. On the left as you drive in, look left just before the stop. Tan Avelanche.
