I'm out for the first several track days of the year. I've gotten tired of having them cancelled last year because of rain or having them not cancel them and riding the track in the rain. I think my first appearance will be in June.

I am in for both days. It will be my first time ever track days on my new to me 09 ZX6R. I've been riding my 02 FZ1 for 3 years but didn't wanna track her.

As of now, I am wearing my suit and wearing a backpack and going to the track. Spending the night in a hotel and showing back up Monday.
I live in Argyle if anyone has room for my bike on their trailer or whatever, I have been encouraged to try and ask and make that work.

I know the days consists of several 20 min track sessions and classroom sessions. I plan on bringing regular shoes and shorts so I can occasionally get out of my full leathers and boots . Gatorade and snacks of course. Chain Lube. Basic tools for mirror removal, etc and some blue tape.

I'm open to all forms of shade , a lawn chair, wrenches, and all the advice and tips and camaraderie I can get.

Looking forward to this!

Also can anyone tell me if the tire vendor on location sells "Street/track" tires such as Bridgestone S20/BT016's and Dunlop Q3's or do they only sell that super sticky "hardcore" track rubber?? and do they also mount them for you? How are the prices (are they comparable to online vendors like jakewilson.com?)

Yes they sell street tires, they are only Michelins, they do mount them, price is a bit higher, you're paying for the convenience at the track, but it's not outrageous.

About the only time you really have to get out of your suit is lunch time, although you can always skip a session if you feel like you need a break, or come in early from a session. The big this is don't worry about being rushed. You don't have to get to the track right when they call your group and you can come in a little early if you want to relax a bit before class. I can't remember the last time I did a full session, I almost always come in a few minutes early, especially towards the end of the day when it's started to get hot and I'm starting to get tired.

I still have one of the club's easy ups, if anyone wants to swing by the house and pick it up some time just let me know.

For those that thought they missed the window for Sunday... They have now killed the cruiser class and gone to a 1.0 and a 1.5. So it looks like there are some openings in level 1 again.

I'm looking at the 14 day forecast avidly. So I can cancel if its rainy. I really don't want my first track experience to be damp and not confidence inspiring.

If it's rainy, I'm delivering/riding a bike to San Diego instead that weekend. Drastic change of plans huh?

Looks like a super windy and gusty Sunday (20 MPH winds and 40+ MPH gusts)

I think I'm gonna ride to San Diego and catch the next one at MSRC

yeah but it makes for a miserable 20 minutes between class and track :P. However, 14 days is really hard to predict what weather really be good or bad TBH.

And now the current forecast for Cresson is winds only around 10 mph and a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Monday. Sunday looks like it'll be nice, but there is a forecast for rain on Saturday so I wouldn't hold much hope for Sunday really.

I decided to ride our to Cali and deliver a bike for a friend. 1550 miles in 2 days. Should be fun. Ish. (Kidding, it's 1400 miles of interstate). Only time I can work this out with my schedule too.

I'll be out at Cresson as much as possible from here on out though. Yall have fun.

Lots of rain in the forecast here this weekend. Looking like 30% for Sat and 20% Sun for Cresson. Exactly why I don't sign up for early track days anymore... Could be nice though regardless of the forecast.

How much rain does Ride Smart tolerate before they cancel I wonder?

They seem to tolerate a lot of rain, but not lightning so much. They have been known to run with standing and or streaming water over the track. It is apparently "good experience" to have, which I'm sure is true, but it doesn't seem like much fun.

It's not so much RideSmarts call as it is the track. If the event is not canceled early enough RS doesn't get a refund from the track and the track doesn't care if it's raining or not. Not sure on the tracks refund policy when lightning or other dangerous weather pops up, but if it's just ran they say run it.
