COTA March 11/12

Post by Tooner » Wed Mar 08, 2017 9:44 am

Is anyone going to this event? I have heard that COTA is like Christmas on steroids what say those who have ridden it? Worth the higher price? I only have Sunday off this weekend and am not prepared to ride COTA, but I may, perhaps drive down early Sunday am to recon the area for future COTA events......

I'm planning on going to the next one, they usually always have some pop up during the riding season. Hopefully that holds true. Just want something closer to summer to not have to ride in rain during March.

It's worth doing at least once, and make a weekend of it and do both days. It's an amazing track but the high cost makes it one of those things you should do, but probably not something you'd do more than once. Unless you can get someone else to pay for it anyway. :) It's lots of fun and how often do you get the chance to run on a MotoGP track and realize just how slow you really are. I was like 20seconds slower than the moto3 kids one their 125s. :(

I'm going to do it next season when I'm off the 500. It's on my bucket list

Looking at the radar I am seeing some rain in the COTA area. It sucks when it's wet at other tracks, but rain at COTA is a whole different kind of PAIN($459) in the Arse! (is that how Lord Tony spells it?)

I see 4 levels 1, 2a, 2b, & 3 on the COTA registration page. Are the sessions still 20 min? Do they lengthen the day or does one get fewer sessions at COTA?

I'm in Austin and yes it rained all day here. I would hate to spend that much on a track day to do it in the rain. I was going to ride down there and watch for a bit, but not in the rain. I did a single COTA day last year. Awesome track. I'll do it again this year once, but it's cheaper for me do two days at Cresson than one day at COTA even with hotel expenses. Sessions are still 20 min, but crashes take longer to clear so if there are a bunch of idiots then you get a lot less track time. Not doing spring track days as I stated before because of the rain.

yeah exactly why i didn't sign up for COTA. Waiting for SUmmer or Fall day for that just too damn expensive to risk rain. Unless I can wait up till a week before and the weather is sunny and there is room forget it. Signing up for Cresson and being out just 1 something is easy to swallow, but not 500 + the trip down for COTA f that.
