MSRC April 14/15 (1.7CCW)

Post by WickerMan » Thu Mar 08, 2018 9:52 am

Too soon? Kidding, it's never too soon.

As I will be on the flags and radio on the 15th, I plan to sign up for the 14th. Problem is I've been rained out the last 2 Aprils in a row. So, it's probably going to rain on the 14th at least, and maybe nice on the 15th. You know the only reason it rained this last Sunday is because I switched from Monday to try to avoid the rain. Seth, get those rain tires or we will need Kayaks in April and June.

I see limited availability in level 1. Level 2 may be next so, it may rain, it may not, I just went ahead and signed up. I noticed that people new to level 2 now need a code to sign up for that level. I wonder what brought on that change.

I don't know specifically but last time I thought I heard Randy say something about the "Shane Rule."

Well hell! Due to a nail I will be on a set of new RS10’s. Think I will drop the drive sprocket down one tooth while I’m at it. Any thoughts ???

Good day, I'd say 7 out of 10. No rain, but the track was cold all morning and only got "warm" by the last two sessions.

Crazy crash-- Round Robin, first right hand turn out of the paddock onto pit lane (<5mph) bike goes down! They gave him hell in class. The second session going out exact same spot, bike goes down WTF??? Third session, half about half the bikes are out and the Track Marshal points to me and a guy on a 2017/18 GSXR 1000r, beautiful bike just lays down right in front of my eyes in the exact same spot as the previous two!!!

For the most part I like the RS10's, and the new (-1), 15 tooth drive sprocket may have made me the laziest rider on the track as 90% of my day I just kept it in third gear. Guess its time for a speedohealer.

Great day today. Nobody crashed getting into pit lane that I saw. The wind was much reduced from Saturday and the temperature was up a bit. The morning was slick, most folks were taking it pretty easy in the AM. It got into the upper 60s by later in the afternoon and tires were sticking to the track. I was passing 300's like they were 250's.

And now I need a new rear tire.

Sounds like a great time to move to level 2, then you will only have to pass me...

Don't leave me alone in Level 1. Seriously though a day no one crashed, Sunday, but it sure was cold out there. Crash truck went out one time to get a bike that broke a chain

No rush on my part. Though Mike L said something about it being time to kick me out of the nest. I need to work on sighting, I need some body position refinement, and I need some more passing practice.

Level 2 is a great place to work on all of that. For the most part level 2 is easier to predict people's movements and therefor passing becomes easier. And with worrying less about what other people are doing you can focus on what you want to work on better.

DarcShadow that is exactly what I have experienced in the few level 2 days I have ridden so far. I was hesitant to say as much because it might sound so self-serving like I just wanted to have Jeff in the same group with me, but ya so far level 2 flows so well. Instead of being clogged up in congestion I have had much more focus time and less worry about those really slow riders that just clog up the track. Not that I am a "fast" rider, but the faster guys never hesitated to pass me and my worry about being so slow to the point of being "that" slow rider never materialized. I pitted out several times just to make sure I wasn't holding up the pack, and looking back, there was never anyone there.

WickerMan you are the party no matter where you are, or what group you're in! Interesting, I going to start a thread regarding breaking chains.

I’m kidding, y’all run off and leave me after a lap or two anyway. If only I could get a decent day to really learn this Ninja. I’m sure I’ll be in level 2 soon enough, like at least in a couple of more seasons.

The jump to level two is not as daunting as people think. In many ways it's a more relaxed and easier group to rude in than lvl 1.
