FWMR Club Ride
Saturday, 5/21, MODERATE
Meetup: Sonic on Clifford St. in White Settlement
Map/Directions: http://www.fwmr.net/SonicMap.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Kick stands up: 8:30 a.m.
Ride Leader: LonestarCBR
Sonic to Sonic length of 285 miles.

This will be a Moderate pace ride. Moderates are great for riders who want a slightly faster pace than beginners but still slow enough to be relaxed and comfortable on any sized bike, with a passenger, or learning to ride with the group. The pace for a moderate ride is at or near posted speed limits. On a Moderate ride the ride leader tries to keep a closer eye on the group and adjust the speeds appropriately.

Please be dressed appropriately: helmet, jacket, gloves, over the ankle shoes and long pants...and chain & tires in good condition. Be gassed up and ready to go please, and if you'd like breakfast at Sonic, please arrive early enough to eat. It will likely be a longer route, especially compared to my last ride to Cresson.

Route will head in a southwesterly sorta direction, still working out the final route details. There will be a lot of good twisties, some I've led on before, some new. Good opportunity to work on your cornering skills. Reminder, you need to attend a Moderate before attending an Intermediate. I say this because I plan on leading an Intermediate on some of this same route soon, so it's a good chance to check it out first and test your comfort level with a moderate pace before picking up the velocity a little.

Stop at 50 miles for break, stop at another 60 miles for gas (110 total), stop at another 40 miles for lunch around noon in a small-town cafe (150 total), stop at another 30 miles for gas (180 total), stop at another 80 miles for gas (260 total). This last stop is in Weatherford on I-20, and will be the end of the ride. It's a short 20 miles or so into Ft. Worth on I-20 from there.

Come down to Hico for the steak festival. Free samples from about 125 booths. That's where I will be.

That was a blast! Thanks Terry, I have only done two of these rides and am still very much a meat ball, but I can say that you today and Rick two weeks ago totally impressed me. I didn't know what to expect from these rides and I am glad to see how serious you guys are about staying safe and at the same time have so much fun! Today I was humbled at how well you all: Terry, Scott, Randall, Jeff, and Pat made those amazing curves look easy. Looking to up my game from your examples. Thanks all!

Randall, Shane, Jeff, Scott and Pat, thanks for attending today. And great job...on the Sonic to Sonic mileage of approximately 300 miles (419 for me today), your patience on the wrong turn (when I KNEW where I was going to boot), and tackling a bucket load of really great twisties.
