Roads and Routes

Post by sckego » Mon Feb 22, 2010 10:21 am

If you're new to the area, or are just unfamiliar with some of the better riding roads around the DFW area, a good website to check out is motorcycleroads.us. That site lists alot of good roads to check out if you feel like exploring on your own, instead of as part of one of our group rides.

To hit a few highlights from the roads listed on that site, some of our favorites are:

FM 5 from Aledo to Annetta
FM 219 from Dublin to Clifton
FM 1238 from Iredell to FM 219
FM 203 from US-67 to Walnut Springs
FM 51 from Granbury to US-67 (nice twisties on the south end)
FM 205 from Stephenville to Glen Rose
FM 1188 and 1189 from Lipan to Bluff Dale
FM 4 from Graford to Santo (tight canyon section just north of Santo)
FM 677 from Forestburg to Capps Corner
FM 373 from FM 677 to FM 922 (near Muenster)

Please remember that a lot of these roads are frequented by large trucks that can tear up the pavement and kick dirt and rocks onto the road, especially in tighter corners, and that rainstorms will wash mud and debris onto the lower parts of the road. Be careful and ride within your limits, especially when you are out there by yourself.
