This is some pretty cool stuff, it absorbs 99.96% of light.

Some "artist" used it to paint a hole that someone then fell into because they didn't think the hole was real.

I would paint the bike with it! No more worry about getting hit by laser. Not sure if it would do anything to radar though.

I wondered about that but not sure if it would work on laser either since laser doesn't use visible light. I would image the wavelength would have an effect on how well this stuff absorbed it. Although they talk about tubes that capture the photons and I believe photon size is independent of wavelength so it might work.

So a bit more research and it does seem like it would work. The absorption spectrum extends well into the IR and UV ranges. Doesn't work for radar wavelength though.

Can you buy it, and how much does it cost? It sounds extremely expensive.

It would work against IR lasers of the type used for speed enforcement. Of course your whole body would have to be covered to be sure. And then I'd advise against riding at night.

Just to fuel the discussion...

Interesting, but the special paint they used on the nighthawk was a big enough pain to maintain, I can't imagine how difficult nanotube paint would be to maintain. The plane would have to be only flown at night and housed in a hanger out of the sun during the day though. The amount of energy absorbed and heat generated would be rather difficult to mitigate.

With the idea of the invisibility cloak in water I could see this going on Submarines kinda quick. I also wonder if it would mess up sonar at all if trying to ping a sub that is coated with it? You would think that it would absorb some of the sound instead of bouncing it back.... at the very least make the sub seem like more of a whale or something.
