New Here!

Post by NakedDentonite » Mon Apr 27, 2015 11:31 am

Hello Hello! My name is Jake, 21 years old, and I'm a senior up at UNT. I play rugby for UNT and I will graduate in May with a bachelor's in Criminal Justice.

I've been riding for almost 2 years (May 16th is my anniversary of 2 wheeled obsession) and have put 24,000 on 2 wheels since then. First bike was V-star 650 then a year later I upgraded to my current bike, an 02 FZ1 (Because who doesn't love 120 RWHP AND all day comfort if need be :) ) . Have put 14K on my FZ1 since I bought her, my only vehicle and I just love to ride, have taken it to STL and back (Through the awesomeness of NW Arkansas of course) , and did a 1500 mile 3 day weekend down at the Twisted Sisters this last January.

I was referred to y'all by a guy who rides with y'all occasionally (he rides a Red, white and blue CBR 250, cant remember his name darn it) and said y'all rock. I'm all about riding the twisties and finding some nice scenery to run through. I think y'all will have the fun and biker friendship that I've been looking for, who aren't squids who think revving engines at gas stations and doing wheelies and 160 on the highway is what makes bikers and motorcyclists cool.

I hope to get out there and do some rides with y'all soon and actually may want to explore some of the routes down near granbury this Wednesday as I have neither work nor school that day. 455 near celina and the St Jo loop up here get boring after the 100th time!

Thanks and hope to get some good feedback!

Welcome!! ^_^

Congrats on all your endeavors! This is a great group indeed and I can vouch for the fun factor (and epic advice too ;) ). No squidly stuff here so no worries! Make yourself at home, catch a ride when you can; poke around in the forums and I have to 2nd Miles- bike pics are nice. You get extra cool points if there is blue. :D I hear you about it getting boring up by Celina. I'm working on getting a GPS so I can explore a bit more rather than taking the same roads but I can tell you the ride routes that I've explored with some of our ride leaders have been so much fun (even unexpected rock and pebble adventures ;) ) Bike nights are a great way to meet the group as well!

Edit- nice bike! Thanks for sharing!

First, welcome! Great pics too.

B, congrats on not being #8.

3, miles is our resident squid...but he can't wheelie, or do 160. But on the plus side, he does ride a Triumph, so he's all that is cool. :)

Four...yes, we rock. And now, YOU ROCK. Again, welcome aboard. :-D

P.S. Nice bike. :biker:

I had my R6 stolen from my apartments in Denton and i know several other people that it has happened to in the area as well. If you ever need to do any maintenance that you can't in a parking lot hit me up. I'm finishing up a bit of work on mine now, but i'll get with you here very soon.

Touché, well done sir. You must be related to either dufremle, or Rhino. You can figure out for yourself if that is a compliment or not. :SideSplittingLaughter:

Hey thanks for that, I do know many get stolen around here. I'm surprised mine hasn't as I live in a Ghetto area but I guess noone loves naked bikes as much as me :( Hah!!

I might def could use a place to do some wrenching, that would be awesome! I can always bring a 6 pack or candy or whatever by as a thank you for that. If you are mechanically inclined, all the better! Thanks!

This isn't my first forum rodeo. I've been a member on FZ1OA for a 2 years and I ruffle feathers there. Amazing group of gentlemen there!

And well its not fun if we can't poke at each other sometimes and be lighthearted! And its nothing that can't be fixed by a ride so! :) I'm young and I like to be sarcastic but I like to think I'm pretty mature and a mature rider as well.

I'm old and I can't help that I'm sarcastic. That old dog/new tricks thing, ya know.

Pooty, are you a member of the FZ01 Oldtimers Association? :-)

Me as well...though I like to call it a hooligan bike, or streetfighter, just to make myself feel a little tougher in my old age.

Yours is def a traditoinal street fighter. I demoed the FJ09 the other day, and WOW. Triple engines kick ass. Now I'm not sure if its just Yamaha's triple, but its like instant torque above 3K RPM's. A kick straight to the nuts. I wonder if your 1050cc triple is the same way.....Must be fun!
