Howdy!

Post by Kaboiz » Wed Sep 09, 2015 8:46 pm

Hello everyone, my name is John. I look forward to meeting everyone and am excited to have a chance to ride with folks that ride like I like to ride...mostly civil.
I live between Fort Worth and Weatherford. I grew up in Stephenville (70 miles southwest of FW on why 377) and went away for about 21 years...US Army. The Army saw fit to issue me a wife and two boys while I was gone and I haven't looked back since.
We spent most of my career in Germany...11 years.

I started riding in 1998 with a Kawasaki Vulcan 800 Classic and despite going through a motorcycle safety course, I promptly wrecked it two hours after picking it up. I was scared to death after picking it up from the shop 1 month later but I "got back in the saddle." I've been enjoying riding every since.

I thoroughly enjoyed riding my VFR, CBR 600 F4i, and RC51 on the fine twisties, Black Forest, autobahn, and occasional track days at the Hockenheim Ring in Germany. Big change coming back home and having to watch my speed and an even bigger challenge finding nice twisties...just have to look harder and be willing to ride further.

I enjoy going to motorcycle races and rode to Laguan Seca up PCH1 and to Assen in the Netherlands. I look forward to having an opportunity to go to a motorcycle race in Austin...hopefully we can organize something like that next year.

I currently ride a 2003 RC51...this is my second RC. I can't even come close to giving this bike justice, but I enjoy the sound of the V twin. Despite it's gear towards the sporting edge, I added a few aftermarket parts to make it a "little" more comfortable for longer road trips.

See y'all around and keep the rubber side down!

Welcome!

Sounds like you've been around - and yes there are twisties, you do indeed just have to travel a little bit to get to them.

Welcome!

Love the RC. My roommate had one with Jardin pipes. Please tell me you have reasonable exhaust on yours.

Welcome John, sweet bike history, and nice bike.

I've lived in Stephenville since 1983. We have a ton of good twisties down this way, along with good BBQ. Subscribe to the club ride and club event threads to stay abreast of club activities for riding opportunities.

Did I say nice bike yet?

Have you made the association that once you started riding sport bikes you quit crashing? I"m just sayin'... :-)

Yep, this is what happens when you start out on a cruiser...it messes with your moto mojo. I won't even bring up how a Kawasaki further complicates the situation. :D

Well, it was really just a comment on cruisers, and maybe Kawasaki's (for fun), but yes it's a trap. If you listen you become curious. If you become curious you test ride. If you test ride with an open mind...you get it...trapped! :-)

If that's truly all that's wrong, I'll buy you a friggin' battery if you'll install it and ride.

And "penny"? I hope that's short for "sixpence", otherwise it's not very fitting for a Triumph. Mine on the other hand is named "Doppler"...much more manly sounding, and it's universal.
