Hello Everyone

Post by rotarynerdette » Sat Mar 12, 2016 4:33 pm

I am a newbie and my name is Jacqui. I rode a long time ago but stopped and just bought an 05 ZX-6R at the beginning of the month. Once I get a little more time under my belt I would like to come out to the events.

I work right outside the track in Cresson so at some point I will probably end up on track when I get comfortable.... but that won't be for a while.... and I still have my track miata so it is possible my track adventures will stay with 4 wheels.

Hope to meet y'all at some point this year.

Welcome.
I've done lots of 2-wheel track days and I've always wondered about the 4 wheel kind. Are there many at Cresson?

A lot - there is a NASA race this weekend, next weekend is a Driver's Edge weekend. Porsche event the weekend after next, and then Apex is the weekend after that. SCCA has track nights on certain Tuesday's and I think it starts in April.

NC1 very nice. I have a gray NC for my track car, I sold my blue NC a few weeks ago and bougut the bike. Bought the ND and love it. It's a great chassis and does really well on track. I can't wait to play with the MX5 Global cars.

I am slightly miata crazy. :-?

I did a weekend with The Driver's Edge a few years ago. It was a really well ran school. One neat thing they do, they try to assign you an instructor that either owns, or races the type of car you're driving so they can tell you exactly what you need to do in your car and how it may be different in a different car. Case in point, my instructor had me hit the gas hard mid turn in rattle snake to slip the rear end and square off the turn. Not something you'd do in your average car.

I know all about Miata people... :) Run with some of the clubs around the country, AutoX'd, and done track days in both of mine. I had a '97 NA and then the '08 NC. Owned Miatas for 11 years. Needed a truck to tow my trailer and the Miata was my only car. At the time I couldn't aford both so the Miata had to go. I miss my NC, but now that I work for GM it would be weird if I bought an new ND. I might pick up a used Sky Redline or Solstice GXP so I can still park in the close "GM Vehicle Only" parking here at work...

Rick has been doing a good job with TDE. Good people and a great group to run in. Almost every instructor gives you something new to learn on... sometimes not always the best but it works well. Learn new lines and learn what you may or may not like to do. My first time on track was with Apex when I had my 03 Cobra and the instructor purposely had me spin out. Had a good tank slap after Little Bend (we were going Clockwise). I have done a whole lot more track days since then with a lot of different cars. 2013 FRS, 03 Z06, miatas of all years, Panoz with a Coyote Swap, etc. Would highly suggest The Driver's Edge if y'all consider taking a car out.

I think the next RideSmart I will just been up there checking it out. I was watching the weekend before last when I could while I was work. Saw CareFlight and what not come out. After that though, the event seemed to go smoothly. You can really tell the different groups.

You can always can put Sky badges on the ND and call it close enough :)
