new to sportbikes

Post by jccj300 » Tue Oct 19, 2010 12:19 pm

Hello I am 38 y/o married male. Ihave been riding three seasons... wait we have no seasons here 3 years.. started on a 2002 shadow vlx 600, then i bought a 2002 kawa zr7s.. I thought that was a sportbike at the time with its 65 hp.. lol.. bought me a 1996sporty 1200 bobbed out... too much $ for service and parts.. sold that for a 1998 shadow spirit 1100..pristine w 7k on odo, commuted rain or shine 100miles a day.. for a year . Three weeks ago i bought a 2001 gsxr 750 and have put about 2000 mikes on it aready.. wow this bike is amazing and it is really the first bike I have respect for.. and I am looking forward to meeting up and going on group rides.. and learning more about my bike .. and improve as a rider..

Welcome to the boards. Keep an eye on the rides section, and come meet the group when you can. Also feel free to ask any questions. We are all more than willing to lend a hand/knowledge/advice.

Welcome! That's a pretty good ride history, the gixxer750 is a totally different beast. Feel free to look around the boards. Don't be shy to ask questions about your bike, gear, and rides.

Welcome. I started street riding on a shadow 750. While it was reliable, I despised the handling and power. I then went to a 250 ninja and put 20K on it in the 10 months that I owned it. Now I have seen the sportbike light and will never own a cruiser. This is a damn good group, and the rides are a lot of fun-you won't be dissapointed.

Not gonna happen on your GSX-R. You need a Ninja 650 or Versys for that. There was a good demonstration at the last bike night.
