As with anything though, you will have those squids who screw this up.

This was from the European Cycle Sales dealership in Plano. I plan on being in Plano on 3/7, so I'm going to stop by and sign the petition.

LANE SPLITTING BILL ADVANCES TO TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

On February 9th the Senate Bill, SB 442 received its first reading in the Texas Senate and was forwarded to the Transportation Committee for consideration. No hearing had been scheduled as yet.
This is a critical time for this legislation, in order to get the bill out of committee and onto the floor it must be moved forward by this committee. If the bill languishes here, we will never see a vote and Lane Splitting will not be in Texas motorcyclists' future
Now is the most important time to make the committee members aware that you as a motorcyclist/voter have an interest in the bill.
On the Lane Split Texas website there is a list of the committee's members and a sample letter you you to send. Visit their page for more details.Texas Lane Split's Senate Members List
The American Motorcyclists Association has been follow these bills and on their website they have a simple to use on line form to send a letter to your State Representative and Senator. You don't need to know who they are, the AMA site figures that out for you and it only takes a few minutes to help this legislation become reality by adding your voice to the growing support for Lane Splitting. Here's a link: https://cqrcengage.com/amacycle/app/wri ... ntId=77645" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
On March 7th, at European Cycle Sports Open House we will have a petition to sign that we plan to send to the Transportation committee.
Please take the time to use these opportunities to make Texas a better place to be a motorcycle rider. If you are a voter in one of the committee member's districts, please visit their local office or if you're in Austin visit them in the legislature. Just a phone call will help, these legislators are not riders, they have no idea what it is like to be sandwiched between autos on the highway at rush hour, they don't understand that lane splitting is far safer than being exposed to rear-end collisions and they certain don't know the misery of sitting on a concrete slab in the Texas sun!
