Street Racing Death

Post by JTChiTown » Wed Dec 16, 2015 1:36 pm

How does everyone else feel about this?

The driver needs his day in court. However, that rider was being a complete dumbass to be doing what was alleged by witnesses. He was not an innocent bystander here.

It bugs me people aren't really talking about that aspect of it. Gives the next generation of riders the idea that anytime they are hit by a car or truck, it wasn't their fault.

Is there a link, or is this just a general philosophical question?

There was a short news story, but the attitudes were reflected heavily for several days on all of the ridedfw/fm51/subcityriders on facebook.

So I guess it's more philosophical in this regard.

Why do we as a community not call out the stupid @$!#s who kill themselves as not reflective of the community as a whole?

Well, that same sentiment can be applied to pedestrians...you can blame the car driver for running over you regardless of right-of-way, since the general consensus these days appears to be that the pedestrian always has the right-of-way. But even if the pedestrian has it (right-of-way), your dumbass is still crippled or dead.

The general philosophy that seems to prevail these days is that no one has to assume responsibility for themselves or their actions. It's quite sad.

And if you make a comment like "call out the stupid @$!#s who kill themselves", then you're labeled as insensitive, lacking empathy, and generally considered an a-hole. The truth often is not a very popular subject in today's culture. Imagine a world where everyone assumes responsibility for themselves and all they do. Someone should write a song...

Now I guess I'll try to find the story and what happened. :)

I saw all that, they are all on a "man hunt"

I hope the catch the guy in the car for simply fleeing the seen, but if you engage in risky behavior.. I feel bad for the guy that died and what makes it worse is the stories are that the car took him out (but who really knows?).

If rhe car fled the scene then a "man hunt" for the driver is understandable. No mstter who is at fault the driver instantly made himself look guilty by leaving the scene.

I've had trouble finding the story.
