I think this settles it

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly. But when they lit a fire in the craft, it sank, proving once and for all that you can't have your kayak and heat it.

When you think of Pie, pie could also include dishes such as pot pie, etc. Which at some point could include bacon. With bacon being superior to everything this thus makes pie superiorly greater than cake.

I think I have to go with pie, but yes, they do both serve a purpose. When you're riding down Stephenville way, make time for Jake & Dorothy's, a couple of blocks east of the courthouse, or the Koffee Kup Cafe in Hico at the "Y". Outstanding pie in both joints, Koffee Kup may get the nod.
