Agree on the mary jane.

Finding a 70yo woman spry enough to hop on your bike is part of the challenge. Anybody can get an old lady to stand next to something. :D

I think keeping the lists a little shorter, and limiting it to 3 months will be better than a super huge list, and all year to do it in. Like 150 items, and change the list every 3 months. Thats like 50 items a month. Nothing wrong with keeping idea's comming in, and adding it to a future list.

I wouldn't mind keeping the lists and people can just PM me with suggestions for new items. I could also keep tally and update it as to who is in the lead, and publish the new scavenger hunt every 3 months.

The only problem with that that i see is i'm not going to want to do trips to long distances every three months. This way i can at least plan a good route to knock out several. Also i don't really expect anyone to get everything by january. But it's whatever y'all want, id be happy to do.

You know, we could also do this in a "reveal" party / style. Keep the photos secret (only the person running the game, you Blizz?), and then we have the winner reveal party, and do it like on George's projector or something as a slideshow, showing off the person's pictures.

Also, keep the tally secret. That would likely keep people interested longer... if I see I'm 20 points down I'd likely just say fuggit. But if I didn't know, I'd probably be more inclined to participate...

You dont want a long ride once every three months? What is wrong with you Miles?

Reveal party is fine, but then I would definately want to keep the game shorter (3 or so months), otherwise I will lose interest.

I'll post up a poll to get votes on the length started, and then we can decide other stuff.

Personally I say shrink the distances down... Keep all attainable goals within 200 miles of Ft. Worth city center. There aren't many of us that have the ability to up and ride up to Lubbock just to take a picture, then down to College Station as well.

Oh come on, Lubbock is only 300 miles. :D

A 200 mile radius means anything in that circle is a day ride for me instead of needing to stay the night at or near the destination and riding back the next day. I kind of like the idea of some of them being weekend trips instead of day trips.

Besides, it's not like there's that many of those. There are what, 20 in a list of 200+? A weekend trip to Galveston would net you a *ton* of long-range stuff on that list with a couple of 400-mile days.

That's also why I'd prefer a long list and a long time to complete it. It gives you more opportunities to set aside time for long rides. I totally agree that too many long rides on a short timeframe (like within a couple months) isn't good because it favors people with more open schedules. But if you've got until the end of the year, there are plenty of long weekends and holidays coming up where you can schedule a trip. Good trip planning would let you knock out a *ton* of items in just a few days.

The reveal part would be cool but you'd most certenly want a shorter list, going through 200+ photos would get pretty dull rather quickly.

true true, things seem like they are just getting caught up in all the rules and different ideas, making something simple complicated. My vote goes back to orginal list, orginal time, If anyone got everything i would be sooooo impressed and shocked.

He should be, but that is off topic.

Back to Scavenger Hunting!!

Okay, Here is my new suggestion. Miles started this thread, so he leads the first round. Miles picks the list length, items on the list, and completion date, and how to keep track who completes what and how to "reveal" it, (i.e., tally where everyone can see, slide show at end, whatever)and if it is a teams or solo event. Winner gets to run the next round. Otherwise, we should have one decision maker because obviously we all have very differing opinions. This can be either Miles if he wants to run it, or someone else if he does not.

I prefer not to run the show. I just hate messing with slide shows and i'm happy with whatever we pick. I just want to keep things simple and easy going.

No Miles, you want to run the show, that way you can just deligate everything to someone else and in the end you actully do nothing.

Sounds like a democracy to me...

I can get behind that.

Miles, pick the rules and post them up. If you don't want to make a reveal all complicated, then don't. We'll play by your rules and regroup after this round is done. :D

He should be, but that is off topic.
If any of you have an idea for an event that you would like me to help you with, I'd be more than happy to help out. All you have to do is ask. I'm unlikely to elbow my way into your plans and logistics without some indication that my help is wanted. Just sayin'.
