Throttle Tube

Post by DarcShadow » Mon Jul 13, 2015 3:58 pm

Any one using a less than 1/4 turn throttle tube?

Was thinking about going with the Yamaha R6 1/6 turn throttle tube on my CBR. Apparently with only a minor modification it's a perfect fit. My only question would be how touchy does it make the throttle coming off of idle.

I use one on my 675. It's an easy mod like yours. It's night and day difference and hasn't in the slightest made things too touchy. 10/10 highly recommend.

Is it a 1/6 turn? I think I have the same setup (Street Triple part?).

But yeah big difference. You lose some of the fine touch, and it was hard to get used to the first time, but I wouldn't go back. Just get used to it and never look back.

I used to run an R6 throttle tube on my first SV650 race bike. For $12 (or whatever) its a great-value mod: your brain will initially think that your bike is now faster, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I have been thinking about doing something with the SV650 to make the throw shorter but wasn't sure if I wanted to go with the R6 tube (which it might already have) or go with the motion pro setup.

The Motion Pro Throttle Revolver is the way to go, but the R6 throttle tube is a decent budget alternative.

Yeah, I don't care about feeling like I'm faster, I just was having a hell of a time going WOT on the 1.3. There just wasn't any section long enough to give me time to adjust my hand, before having to do something, either slow down or turn, and the little bit of movement I've lost in my wrist is just enough to make WOT not possible with out moving my hand.

I think I'll make this happen. Although I don't think I'll have time to do it before the Aug. TD and then my next TD is Barber and I really don't want to be "learning" a new throttle at Barber so I'll probably hold off till end of Sept. before I actually get around to doing this.

This wasn't from falling off so much as being thrown off by a violent impact with an idiot woman driving a POS 70's era steel car.

The girl that hit me only damaged the bike.

I have a 1/6ish throttle on the Buell. With the V2 and the short throttle it is twitchy at low speeds. Takes a very steady hand. Shouldn't be much issue on a 600 I4. I went from a stock throttle on the SV to the Motion Pro setup with the biggest reel, about 1/6 turn. Haven't tried it yet.

You should just do it. Takes about 10 minutes to install, and about one session to get used to it.

Yeah, it *is* a 600. It's not like you'll suddenly spin up the wheel like crazy.

If it was a torque monster like a KTM or Buell I'd say maybe hold off.
