Oil @ AutoZone
I noticed today that AutoZone has $2 off any motorcycle oil. That is per qt.
On that more, where do you guys get good prices on oil?

Re: Oil @ AutoZone
Yeah, its been used in motorcycles for quite some time. The used oil analyses that I have seen for RT6 have been pretty good for regular street application. There have been some viscosity issues, where the oil sheared down to a thinner grade within a relatively short oil change interval. Other issues (more anecdotal ones) have been about the shifting: some people have reported much rougher shifting than with other oils, while other people never had any problems.111 wrote:isn't Rotel t6 diesel oil? I've been doing some reading, something like 10W40 is not weight rating like most people thinkStriple wrote:Yeah, its been used in motorcycles for quite some time. 10 is the vescocity rating at W measurement (winter) and 40 is the vescocity measurement at 200 degrees, those oils have vescocity modifiers that react with temperature, think of polymer spiders who's legs expand when they get hot and shrink when they cool. Over time those legs get sheered off and the vescocity drops, so eventually 10W40 breaks down to 10W10.

Keep reading, and you're going to be doing oil analyses before you know it!

Re: Oil @ AutoZone
I found Amsoil MCF at CycleCenter in Denton regularly priced under $12 qt. They are currently running a special, buy 4 qts. of any synthetic oil and get an OEM oil filter for your bike free.
