When these came out I wasn't alive.

The dude that I bought my 919 from has a CBX. It was his dad's bike back in the day and he tracked it down and bought it. He offered to let me ride it one time. I said no thanks.

Yeah well...I was alive, and RIDING when those came out. The CBX was super bad-ass in the day. Rode an XS-Eleven special - powerful for the day, but man-o-man the shaft drive effect (up and down) was horrible. I had a couple of factory turbo bikes, the GPZ was the fastest of them all...and you hardly ever saw one even back then. Cool stuff though.

Yep, and 55 is right around the corner. It helps lessen the pain if you keep on riding...and try not to fall off. I guess the day is coming when I'll have one of those do-dads where you push the button and it sends out a message "I've fallen over on my bike and can't get it off me".

Stardog, to really help put it in perspective, I started my current job in 1983.

83 was a good year as that is when I was born. What do you do?

Miles, if "what do you do" was at me, I work in Manufacturing. Started as a flunky on the shop floor, out lasted most everyone and am now the plant manager. If you're riding down US377 south (from Hard 8, if you can find it), you'll see the Hampton Inn on the left, cross over a railroad overpass, then my plant is the big white building to the left after you come down off the overpass (Emerson).

FYI, my middle child was born in '83. One in '78, one in '85. Yep, started early.

Here are some of the old-school bikes I had in the day, which are pretty cool also...or were back then at least.

The Seca Turbo had the waste-gate removed and boosted a lot higher than normal. I had a friend that had one stock, mine was way quicker and would run (and outrun) the 1100's of the day. If was pure fun to ride. The Honda was the only twin I ever owned, and I realized then I wasn't a twin guy, but it was cool and unique. You had to be an "artist" to launch a factory turbo bike from the line, and if you got it right, hold on. More times than not you'd just bog then have to make up the difference. But they were way fun on the highway once moving.
