I wouldn't do track days in them, but they look fine for street use...

Good point, by my feet are just as important on the street as on the track, and probably more prone to injury on the street (for me at least).

Assuming you're shopping on a budget...with your new gift card (dammit!).

I know these are more, but look a little more promising from MSS.

Same as the last one above at a different store and you get a $15 gift card with the purchase.

I have the Latigo boots. Had them for a few years as of now. Used them at the track and off the track. Decently comfortable if you have a wide foot and they've held up pretty well for cheap boots. If you don't have a wide foot, the Latigos will swim on your feet.

I had similar boots in college. More comfortable than full track protection boots, but you gain in comfort what you give up in protection.

Those won't protect your ankle in a tumble, but will do just fine in a slide.

While I understand people wanting just as much protection on the street as the track I don't see it the same way. I have boots and gear for the street that I would not wear on the track. I understand it wont protect me as well but then if you ever ride with anything less than full leathers, full gauntlets and all then you are doing the same thing as wearing boots that are not as safe as ones that you would wear on the track. To me it depends on the riding I will be doing. I know my chances of going down on the track are more because I am going faster and trying to get better. On the street I usually am not pushing the limit of any part of my ride. If it is going to be a day on the street where I might be pushing any limits then I will go full leathers and all. Anyway that is my .02.

Yeah, but on the track though you have "fewer" people intentionally trying to kill you... :)

I've seen mesh fail at street speeds
I've seen leather fail at street speeds
I've seen jeans leave people bloody at low speed.

I only wear non track gear on the street for temperature comfort, if our climate allowed for it I would never throw my leg over my bike without full track level protection. Even tho I'm not pushing as "hard" as I do on the track, I know for a fact if I go down on the street wearing my zip together mesh going 110 mph I'm going to be in deep shit and I will be losing skin.

For those that say you shouldn't be pushing that hard, I don't consider "speed" to be the only factor when pushing it, how hard and deep are you braking into the turns, how much lean are you putting down, how much are you gassing it on exits - these are the things I consider when pushing it. If I'm cruising 110mph down a nice country straight just relaxing and an animal goes under my bike, I will want maximum protection because it's going to hurt.

I agree with Fixxer on this. The reason I don't wear track quality gear is for comfort alone on the street. Its all a risk you just have to decide what risk you are willing to take. I am only saying that if you ever ride the street with gear that is not the stuff you take to the track then you are doing the same as someone else choosing to wear something that is not track spec on the street.

I fell going less than 20mph at the corner of my block last year. I was wearing jeans and took a chunk of skin below the knee and the spot is still bruised.
Now I only ride with my mesh or leather on top of jeans.

Yeah, I was pushed off the road doing about 35mph and I ended up with a nice bruise on my leg from my frame slider that would've been protected by my Cortech boots had I been wearing them. I now wear my boots whenever I get on the bike and bring a pair of shoes in my bag to wear at work.
