Bridgestone Battlax RS10 Tires

Post by LonestarCBR » Fri Jun 03, 2016 8:00 am

I think Jim and Heath may have these on their new bikes. This is basically a street version of a track tire, and seems to outperform the Bridgestones they replace, as well as the Q3, based on reviews I'm reading. The price is fair, mileage is iffy of course (less than the Q3 maybe),

Anyone have any input on them?

I'm trying to find the best track day tire I can before using slicks with warmers, just to get used to the track bike, and be sure I'm not running slicks and then not maintaining the temps they need. Just kinda working my way up the tire ladder safely. This is based on a very experienced recommendation I received...nothing I know myself of course.

What I've heard is they wear out faster, and get greasy when they get hot. I've considered them since I can get them in 200/55 but I dunno, less mileage is a hang up for me and when cresson gets hot, greasy tires are a scary thought.

Jim will tell you his tires are not the same, which is bogus, he is running RS10's

From what I understand, and this came from one of the tire reps at a track day, is that the OEM versions of the tires are not the same as the replacement versions. The OEM versions are made with a slightly different compound to be cheaper, even though they have the same markings. This was a few years ago so things may have changed since then.

I talked with the dunlop guy at the show, had that discussion with him and he looked at me like I was on crack cocaine.

It wouldn't make sense for them to pay out the extra money to tool up a special "look a like" run of tires.

It wasn't that show I that I talked to him :))

It was the one right after I bought my ape, and I still had the factory tires on so I went and talked to the tire guys.

Oh, you had the new-bike-cocaine look. That's easy to explain.

Do any bikes come stock with Dunlop's? Maybe it was just Michelin and Bridgestone.

Maybe I'm just completely wrong. Nah, that can't be it.

Don't remember, Corsa S2 or something like that, not a big fan of their tires.

Lonestar.... get Q3s and do some track days on them with the track bike. We have people who still use Q3's and are/have been licensed racers. Just my .02
