Anybody have any experience with them? I'm thinking about getting one.

I haven't had that specific one but I have had several Icon brand items.... they all seem well built.

My Icon mesh/leather gloves were shit. I might be able to repair the stitching though.

Wouldn't that be a fairly big downgrade from the qwest.

I don't know about upgrade or downgrade, but my black Qwest took a pretty hard hit when I dropped my Versys in the garage, so it needs to be replaced. I'm giving something different a try. I really like the looks of the Variant, like a dirt helmet but with a full visor and apparently aerodynamics that don't suck at speed.

Just as a side thought you can send your helmet to Shoei and they will certify if the internal liner is still good.

Meh, then I'd have to wear my white one while I waited. Or I could just order a cool new helmet.

I chose option B. :D

When you own gear that in total is worth more than one of your bikes, another helmet is no big deal. This will be my 6th helmet, and I'm nowhere near some other members' count. Part of the fun of motorcycling is playing dress-up. :SideSplittingLaughter:

:icon_whs0be:

It's funny how stuff adds up. First you buy your gear. Then you figure out you need something for winter. Then you figure out you need something for summer. Then you figure out you need something for when it rains. Then you decide to take up track riding. Then you go on a long trip and decide a waterproof 1-piece will be way simpler. Then you start losing weight. Then you crash and have a textile jacket fail, so you buy leather for the summer. Then it gets cold and you buy leather for the winter. Then you take up dirt riding and buy a whole new set of gear from head to toe because you need impact protection, not abrasion protection. Then you drop your bike and smash your helmet into a wall...

...and then you realize that the gear that actually still fits you totals about $5k, which is more than one of your bikes is worth.

Or you buy one helmet, one jacket, one suit, and one pair of gloves and stick with them till they wear out. :D Been riding for about 10 years and have owned 4 helmets, 2 jackets, 3 pairs of gloves, one pair of boots, and one full suit.

Yeah, but with that plan you end up yellow whether it matches anything or not, and your "white" boots turn the color of concrete.

And I saw the gloves you wore at Barber last year. :D

Hey, I tried to replace the gloves prior to Barbor. Not my fault none of the shops I stopped at had anything worth a damn. :D

and besides, matching is for girls who like to play dress up. :o

Really did just work out that way. Don't want black or other dark colors (blue, red, grey), don't want white, (white boots are bad enough), can't stand the lime green leathers, so that just leaves orange and couldn't find anything in orange. That just leaves yellow.

Honestly, no, not really, just worked out that way. I did get the bike partly because it was yellow but not to match anything, just because I liked the bike and liked yellow since you don't see many yellow bikes. Car I got yellow because I didn't care for any of the other colors from that year (would of like to of gotten the blue and white but didn't want to go that old).

Oh how quickly he backpedals!

I've figured out that I like all colors of motorcycle gear, as long as it's black. :D

Old & Busted vs. New Hotness

The fit is awesome, the design is awesome, and everybody at work that saw me take it out of the box commented on how cool it looks.

Yeah, I'm happy. :D

Sorry man, but when I see that I think of a stunt cage and a mohawk while wearing shorts.

That helmet is popular in the squid groups and stuff I've seen around the interwebs.

I'm seeing visions of no mirrors, slammed 3 inches, stretched, t-shirt..

NO NO make the bad thoughts stop!!!

I like it, I might get one just for the goldwing. How does it breath with a sheild on your bike?

It does look like a halo lid.

Does the visor flip up?
