Riding boots

I've got a pair of speed and strength riding boots that lasted all of 8mths before starting to come apart. I thought this time I would go more of a race boot that works with Jeans and leathers. What would you guys recommend?

I know some of the guys wear bilt on the road while wearing something a bit more expensive like alpine stars or Dainese on the track. I'd go and try them on and see what feels comfortable for you.

My cheap ass bilts are holding up pretty good, but I won't track them.

For when I "ride ride" I use A* they are ok. I don't have experience with any other boots.

This is a pretty subjective issue. I crashed my way through all the brands when i was racing and finally stuck with Dainese because they just fit me better than the others. At Laguna Seca one year they were on sale and I bought 2 spare pairs so I wouldnt have problems finding them later. They lasted so well though I have one pair (almost) new in the box - size 11.5. You're welcome to try them on - $100 if you want them. Meanwhile my other Dainese boots, the Torque-in - took quite a bit of damage from a minor low speed crash. It was all external damage though - the internal bracing probably saved my ankle from twisting when the bike landed on my foot.
As for the other brands, I tried on the gp-tech Alpinestars recently and they were so comfortable I couldnt leave them.

My point is - try them all on. Decide what fits best and go with them. Spend as much as you can or be prepared to replace them disturbingly early.

I have some Sidi that I've been pretty happy with. Had them for about 8 years now. Not good for walking around in, but I have worn them all day at work once or twice. I usually have an extra pair of shoes at work to change into. I forget which model they are, but they are the lower end of the Sidi stuff.

I have the alpinestars smx5. I've been pretty hard on them and it shows, but they still have plenty life in them. This will be my next upgrade though. I don't think they offer the level of protection I would want in a crash. Also even though they are the "vented" model, they do not breathe one bit!

MotoLiberty has the largest selection of boots in the area. I suggest you go there to try on the different brands available. You don't have to buy them there but you'll get an idea of the sizing, they all run different. Then shop the internet for deals.

I have the A* SMX 5s. A more protective pair of boots is the next thing that I am going to buy. I am leaning towards the Sidi Vortice because they have the replaceable toe panels in the soles and my rear sets are like saw blades. I wish Alpinestars offered something similar. A* will replace your soles if you wear them through but how many times I do not know and you will be out of your boots for a month.

Are you sure about that? I see where you can replace the entire sole. You can replace the toe sliders, but you shouldn't be wearing them down unless you really, really good, or screw up.

Yea from my understanding the sidis you can replace all parts

I've got two different pair of sidi boots, and like them both. But as said before. Try them on, and see what fits you, and you like the best.
